Daniel leaned into my ear. "Do you want to leave those two alone?"
I looked over at Blake who was looking nonchalant to a mere passer by, but to me? I could see the way she was rubbing a finger on her bottom lip, or how she 'innocently' brushed Carlos' arm as she leaned for her pizza. All ways to force his attention towards her best assets.
"Sure. We might combust just by looking at their conversation."
Daniel's eyes lit up with amusement as he turned to speak to his brother. "Carlos. We're just leaving."
"What?" Blake's attention towards us. "But I thought we could get some ice cream."
Daniel looked at me and I shrugged. I knew what Blake was doing. She was to be in ultra-protective mode, probably feeling guilty about the last time she left me on my own.
"You guys must know some good places, right?" she said as she fluttered her eyelashes innocently.
"Of course, bella. Follow me." Carlos stood and Blake followed suit, hooking her arm into his.
Daniel and I walked slowly behind them.
"You know what she's doing, right?" I asked.
"Oh, yes." Daniel's mouth twitched in corner. "She does not want me alone with you."
"About that-" I started.
"-Do not worry Rachel," his Italian accent crooned.
I stood still so I could turn to speak to him. He followed my actions, the usual questioning smile playing on his lips.
"It was nothing you did Daniel. I just wanted to make sure you knew that."
"Hey," he said as he gently touched my forearm. "You do not need to tell me. But whatever it is, whatever has happened, know that it will be OK."
I kind of melted; his words were perfect, especially in that accent. And then I wondered why he wasn't reaching for my hand, but he was probably scared to touch me too much after last night.
Maybe Blake was right about me having it bad...
"Come on you two," Blake called. "Carlos said the ice cream place is just here."
I rolled my eyes and Daniel laughed as we made our way over to the sex pest.
"What were you talking about?" Blake whispered conspiratorially once the brothers had gone to order our ice cream.
"What would you like?" Carlos called to us.
"Pistachio for me."
"Chocolate," Blake said in a way I wished I wasn't there to witness. She then murmured to me, "I could think of somewhere else I'd want that ice-cream and it's definitely not for public eyes."
I stared at her. "Never. Again."
"What? It's not like you didn't know I was thinking that!"
"My ears didn't need to hear it!" I laughed.
"Here you go, ladies," Carlos said as he gave us our ice-creams.
"Good. I think Blake needs to cool down."
Carlos' eyes went straight to Blake and I immediately vacated their presence.
"Come on Daniel. It's getting too hot in here," I smiled as I raised my eyebrow.
"You're the one who knows this place," I said as we walked outside.
"Hey, you two. Leaving so soon?" Blake spoke from behind us.
"I thought you two were busy." I widened my eyes.
Carlos was just staring at her with a smile playing on his lips. He was probably amused with the whole situation.
Blake walked towards me, eating her ice-cream and hooked her arm in mine. "You never answered my question."
I looked behind me towards Daniel and he smiled, kindly.
"What were you and Daniel talking about?"
"Oh. I was trying to apologise for last night, but he wouldn't let me and then he told me everything was going to be OK-"
"-And then you melted inside didn't you?"
I narrowed my eyes at her; this was my 'shut up' face.
"We all do it, Rach. It's the sexy accent."
"'Yeah, well. At least I don't ooze sexual tension prominent enough to make an entire room combust."
"You've known me how long and you've only just realised this?"
"Shut up Blake," I laughed as we walked through the streets of Florence.
I could hear Daniel and Carlos speaking fluent Italian behind us and my ears burned when I swore I could here mine and Blake's name being mentioned. I stopped in my tracks, hoping to see their expressions, but I was too late.
"Where to now?" Carlos asked the group, obviously feeling prompted by our sudden stop in the middle of the street.
"I'm sure you can come up with something," Blake challenged.
"The vineyard?" Daniel asked.
"Ah, yes. Good choice, brother. How would you like to come visit our vineyard?"
"I don't drink," Blake spoke.
"I'm sure you will find other things to do." Carlos' eyes became fiery and I had to look away. There was the sexual heat again. Was Blake ever going to do something about this?
"I could take Rachel in my car, Carlos," Daniel spoke.
"No need we have my driver."
I have to admit, I was disappointed. Would I ever be alone with Daniel again?
Daniel walked up behind me and whispered in my ear. "Alone time with you is nearing on impossible."
His voice sent a pulse through my body. I guess he feels the same.
