I crawled out of the lake to see Midnight rocking on the ground, her father next to her. Around her was a circle where she had pushed her energy out. Alzena. My eyes found her, lying crumpled at the bottom of the tree. I ran to her again, this time nothing could stop me. I touched her tentitively, she was limp, almost lifeless, apart from her faint heartbeat.
"Alzena! Please Alzena, stay with me!" She stirred in my arms and her eyes fluttered. She peered up at me.
"What are you talking about? It'll take more than a bump to the head to stop me from being with you." She stretched, feeling the back of her head. "Ouch!"
"Here, this will help." I cut my wrist quickly and fed her a little of my blood, healing her.
"Thank you." I helped her up and hugged her, kissing the top of her head and breathing in her scent.
"Orlando! I need you here, she needs to be stabilised!"
I unwillingly let go off Alzena, pulling her with me as I ran over to Midnight and her father. A warm breeze swirled round us, drying me off for the third time.
"Midnight?" I touched her head gently and she looked up, all the energy drained from her face.
