Natalie Brooks - A Small Cheer-Up

I moved back as Ash leaned forward to kiss me, wincing lightly in the process. Placing a finger on his lips, I smiled and said, "You need to have some rest." Groaning, he lay back against the bed and grumpily crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"I hate it when girls do that."

I couldn't help but grin when he said that and leaned forward, giving him a slow kiss on the lips which he happily reciprocated. "Happy?"

"Mhmm," he sighed, leaning closer to me again. "But, I'd be happier if-"

"No," I said sharply and stood up. "Now close your eyes. I'm going to go call the nurse."

"Alright mother," he mocked.

Rolling my eyes, I left the room and then called out to one of the nurses at the front desk. As soon as she left, I let my smile fall and fear gripped my heart once more but was soon replaced by anger. I had business to take care of.
