I lay there while Elioth slept, just staring at the wall. He’d hurt me when he left. I was glad he’d come back but the spark of pain in my chest stopped me from doing anything. I couldn’t trust him not to hurt me again. Especially now that he reckoned he was dying. I mean, if I let myself get attached again, it’d only hurt all over again when he died. He coughed suddenly and I looked down to see if he was still asleep. That’s when the faint smell of blood hit me.
He coughed again, putting his hand to his mouth. Blood covered his palm and I frowned. He woke up and looked at his hand.
"Oh....well that's new"
"Any reason why?"
"Um, I'm getting worse?"
"I don't know. This is all confusing for me"
"What's even happening?"
"Um, I think death said that I can't be immortal because I'm somewhat disabled. I can't have immortality because my body won't allow it so since it’s in my system its slowly killing me. Like cancer I suppose"
He smiled sheepishly. "I'm a dying man"
I said nothing as he got up, walking over to his wardrobe.
"What should I wear?"
"Clothes. What should I wear?" he said, turning and holding up two shirts. A black one and a dark blue one, both identical save for the colour.
"Up to you" I shrugged and he sighed.
"I don't know"
I didn’t say anything and Elioth sighed, settling on the black shirt.
"I don't know"
"That makes sense"
"Um. well.... do you wanna.... hang out?"
"I was thinking we could watch a film" he said shyly, blushing.
"Whatever. I've got some paintings to do as well, though"
Elioth nodded and walked out. I stayed where I was for a while, eventually wandering out into the living room.
"Horror, Action or Romance?" Elioth asked, pointing at three DVDs.
"Go on pick. I'll make popcorn"
"Whichever, I don't care"
"Pick" he said after a while, coming back with a bowl of popcorn.
I sighed. "Action"
"Okay" he put one of the DVDs on and slumped on the couch.
I sat on the floor and Elioth frowned and patted the seat next to him.
"Robin" he moaned.
"Sit next to me" he pouted.
"I'm fine here, thanks"
He started tearing up and I tried to ignore it. I kept trying to ignore it as he sniffled a little.
"It's comfier down here"
He sat down on the floor and snuggled up to me. I didn’t really do anything and he moved slightly, trying to sit on my lap. I sighed.
"Don't let my mum come to my funeral"
I didn’t say anything. I didn’t want to think about it.
"Please don't. She hates me"
I put an arm round his shoulders in an effort to shut him up and it seemed to work. He snuggled up to me more and moved onto my lap. I didn’t say anything. I ignored it when he started tracing patterns on my shirt.
"Do you hate me for what I did?"
"Depends what you mean"
"Everything. Generally do you hate me?"
Elioth fell into silence, sort of curling in on himself.
"I never thought you'd say that" he whispered.
He looked up. "Cause I'm horrible. What I did to you was horrible especially since I love you"
I said nothing and Elioth traced my lips.
"I don't know who I am anymore" he said.
"Not my problem"
"No it isn't" he said and kissed me.
He didn’t seem to care that I didn’t kiss back, unbuttoning my shirt before I could stop him. I sighed.
"No" he said, kissing my neck.
He didn’t reply, gripping my hips as he kept on kissing my neck, biting slightly. I tried to push him off but his grip on my hips was too tight. He kissed me hard and I turned my head away.
'Aw, the healthy little vampire turns away the poor little dying one. Ain't that heartless' Death’s taunt echoed in my head.
"No, Eli. You hurt me when you left" I said, ignoring Death.
"Please" tears of blood slipped from his eyes.
'Boo, come on. Why aren't you playin him? You could use him to death.... literally. He's with me in 2 or 3 weeks.... possibly less' Death echoed again.
I wiped away Elioth’s tears and he looked at the blood on my fingers, scrambling away from me. I let out a sigh.
"I..... I'm gonna go have a shower" he said, stumbling off to the bathroom once I nodded.
"Once again, I say Booo!" Death said, appearing.
"You can if you want" Death smirked. "Warning I smell of death" he burst out laughing and I glared at him, silencing him. "You were more fun in your youth"
"The times were better"
"Ooh, wanna come to limbo? They have a whole section of that time" he said, lounging on the couch.
"Could you not tell I grew tired of it?"
"Hmm" he leant forward, reaching out to run a finger along my jaw. "You know you've hurt Samiel pretty bad and you're on your way to doing that to Elioth"
I shivered at his touch, making him smile. Suddenly he pressed his lips to mine.
"Wanna hurt Elioth now and just get it over with?"
I glared at him and he shrugged.
"He'll die anyway. Make your mind up. Hurt him or make his final feeble last bits of life the best ever"
I chuckled. "And hurt myself either way? No thank you"
"Well, doing nothing hurts him"
"I know" I sighed.
"Then pick cause it all on your shoulder" Death patted my shoulder as if to illustrate his point and vanished.
"Robin, the boiler's broke" Elioth said from behind me wearing nothing but a towel.
He frowned at the ash and I got up.
"Oh. Let me just call the repair guy"
Elioth nodded, still looking at the ash. "Why was Death here? Did he ask for me?"
"No, he was just being a dick like usual"
"Oh.... okay" he frowned even more and mumbled "guess it’s not in his interest to help me anymore"
I said nothing, calling the repair guy from the safety of the kitchen.
"He said he'll be up in about an hour"
Elioth shifted nervously. "Robin?"
"Um, will you ever kiss me back before I go?"
"I..." I looked at my feet. "I don't know"
He walked over to me, standing in front of me. He put a hand on my cheek. "Things will get better for you Robin"
He kissed me and headed for his room. What was that supposed to mean?
