Evie was looking at me, waiting for me to say something but I didn't really have anything to say. She took my hand and led me out of the room and down to the others. The guy was stood at the bottom of the stairs, looking up at us. Well, looking at me.
"You alright?" he asked, trying to smile at me. I nodded, offering him my hand. He took it and shook it. He had a strong grip, much stronger than mine. "So who are you two?"
Evie squeezed my hand. "I'm Archie and this is Evie." I released her hand and waved half-heartedly at the others. From what I could tell there were three of them, one male who we had already met, a woman and someone else - I could only see their back. "Oh and this is Busker." The dog ran up to us, standing in front of us in an aggressive stance.
"Well I best introduce myself." he said. "I'm Otis." I looked him over; he didn't seem much like an Otis. He didn't really seem tall or butch enough to be an Otis.
"Hi." Evie muttered with a smile. She stroked Busker in an attempt to calm him down.
"I'm Katy." The woman explained, stepping forward with a large smile. She held a sword on her hand, waving it about like it was some sort of baton. "And that's Maddison." She pointed her sword at the mystery person.
"Nice to meet you!" I shouted but I got no response.
"Maddison is a bit different." Katy explained. "We don't know a lot about Maddison."
Otis laughed. "Nobody does. Maddison likes to keep, well. Maddison is a solitary person."
"So why is she here?" Evie piped up, pushing me forward.
"Not she." Otis whispered.
"Ok. Why is he here?"
"Nope." Katy muttered. They were both smiling; what was so funny?
"Ok." I muttered. "Why is Maddison here?"
"Don't know." Katy said. She went over to the corner of the room and fetched us a couple of weapons. "We have extra and you don't seem to have any."
"Thanks." I muttered. "So how have the three of your survived?"
"Not three." Otis said.
"Oh come on!" I yelled. "How hard can this be?"
"There aren't three of us." Katy said. "There are four of us."
I turned around, counting. Otis - one. Katy - two. Maddison - three. "I can count." I whimpered defensively.
Otis put his hand on my shoulder. "Outside."
I nodded, pushing past the mysterious Maddison. There was someone stood in the doorway, looking out for any more of them. She turned and looked at me, shock on her face. It couldn’t be. She couldn't be alive.
"Archie?" she asked, grinning.
"No." I whimpered. She came running at me, wrapping her arms around me.
"I can't believe you're still alive. It has been so long." she whispered in my ear, holding me tightly.
"Carrie?" I was shaking.
She pulled away from me, tears flowing from her eyes. "No." she whispered. "I'm Natalie. Her twin. Remember me?"
I nodded weakly, stumbling backwards. I felt Evie hold me up. "But."
"Weren't you with Carrie?" she asked, coming towards me.
"She…" I mumbled. "She."
"Where's Carrie?" she screamed, reaching out to me. "Archie, where's Carrie?"
