About a man who loves his work more than his lover. About a couple which fight to rekindle their love.

"It's not fair on me" I whispered, watching him fix his tie in the mirror.

He sighed before turning to look at me.

"It's just not fair that I love you more than you will ever love me" I wrapped the silk blankets around my bare shoulders as he started fixing his cuffs paying them more attention than he will ever pay me.

"Can we not have this conversation as I am about to run out the door? You know how important this meeting is and I'm not in the mood for this right now"

This is the fifth time this morning he avoids saying the words. He walks towards me like a wolf stalking his prey, sending goosebumps around my body. With hungry eyes he cradles my cheeks in his hands, almost harshly, and looks me in the eyes.

"Don't ever think like that again"

He turns and I watch as his suited body walks graciously towards the door.

I guess he just has his own way of showing his love, I say as I try to numb my pain one more time.

The End
