Her SleepMature

Miles Stevans

As evening started to come by, I watched Roi get a little tired with each second. It must have been a long day for her, especially since she'd mumbled something about having double sports period today - a subject I'm guessing she never quite prefers. After a quick dinner of spaghetti and meatballs, we settled down on the couch not really talking as I flicked through the channels on TV, trying to find something interesting. I felt Roi shift her position uncomfortably from time to time and turned my head to look at her, sighing.

"Roi, do you want to go to sleep?" I asked, softly, running my hands through her silky hair.

"If I'm not already, yes please," she mumbled. I chuckled softly and nodded, taking hold fof her hand and lightly pulling her up but she stayed rooted to the couch and opened her eyes, shaking her head no.

"Miles, would you mind carrying me, you know," she bit her lower lip, and continued, "bridal style?"

I bent down and wrapped my arms around her waist, scooping her up easily and holding her close to my chest as I moved up the stairs. I felt her hand trail patterns across my t-shirt, her eyes drooping slowly. If I'd known she'd be this tired, I probably wouldn't have made her bother to come over. Opening the door by nudging it with the side of my shoulder, I walked into the dark room and softly set Roi down on the bed, pulling up the blanket over her.

I was about go back downstairs and clean a few things up but I felt Roi's hand wrap around my wrist. "Aren't you going to join me?" She said it so comfortably without feeling the lightest bit of awkward, as if I was joining her for a study session or lunch date. Deciding not to upset her, I joined her as she made some space for me on the bed. Her arms went around my waist, pulling me closer to her. She lifted her head, searching and I gave her what she wanted.

With a soft kiss on the lips, she was happy and nestled her head against my chest, sighing. "Thank you." I'd expected her to try to do something about wanting to doitwith me, but she didn't. Instead, as I felt her breathing grow steady against my chest and the beat of her heart against mine, I felt a smile hit my lips and I put my arms around her waist, embracing her.

No matter what forces tried to break us apart, she'll always be mine.

The End
