One second I was shouting at Lucas, the next he was smothering me. He grabbed my waist, pushing me onto the bed. I resisted but he was much stronger than me, it was pointless.
I don't know why I got carried away with thinking he'd changed in such a short time period. I guess I hoped so much that he would that I was willing to believe any form of lie he told me about being the Lucas I first met again. I wanted to cry at how stupid I'd been to even begin to begin to believe Lucas could have changed. Before I did, I steeled my resolve. No matter how much I wanted to show my feelings, I wouldn't - not in front of Lucas.
Knowing how futile my efforts were, I changed tactic. "Could I just excuse myself to the bathroom for a moment?" I ask, my voice quiet but resilient.
He stopped and considered my request. "Be quick." was all he replied with.
Slowly, he released me from his grasp and I stood up off the bed, picking up my bag as I went. He said nothing, but I could feel his eyes staring at me as I walked away from him.
I could only hope.
I opened the door to the bathroom in the hotel room, making sure to lock it behind me. Out of my bag I got my phone and quickly dialled Nina.
"Scar? I thought you were on a date with Lucas?" she answered.
"Look, I am, but I need you to help me. Come and get me. Now."
"Where are you?" I could hear her leaving her house already. In the background her front door slammed shut and I could hear her shoes clicking against the road.
"The hotel near Louis' Restaurant. Room 28. Hurry, I don't know how much longer I can hold him off." I hissed down the phone, scared that Lucas might overhear the conversation and put up more of a fight.
"I'll be there in two minutes. Hold on hun." She put the phone down as the car started and I heard the screeching of the wheels before the beep.
I put my phone back into my bag and looked at my reflection in the mirror.
"Scarlett? Are you ready?" I could hear the malice in his voice. If I delayed him any longer, he would make it worse. It would be easier for me to go now and hope Nina got here before anything disastrous happened.
Taking a deep breath, I opened the door and walked out. Lucas was sitting on the edge of the bed, but when he saw me he leapt up.
"I was beginning to wonder what you were doing in there." He said. With that, he crossed the distance between us and forced himself against me. I tried not to flinch away when he kissed me, but it was hard. Over his shoulder, I glanced at the clock - Nina should be here in a few seconds. I just hoped it wasn't a few seconds too late.
Lucas pushed me back onto the bed once again and I had no choice but to comply. I hated this.
Then Nina knocked on the door.
