Why had I said I'll pick her up?
I frowned to myself, deep in thought and irritated with myself. The best I can do for a car is a taxi and that's not even close to romantic. Would it be possible to rent a car somehow, for a short period of time? I picked up the phone to my bed side and dialled a hotel number, one meant to use when looking for transport services.
"Good evening, how may we help you?"
"I'd like to rent a car."
It took me a while to get the lady to exactly understand what I wanted but after about fifteen minutes, she'd agreed to have a Mercedes Benz parked in the hotel compound. And the next morning, when heading down for breakfast I recieved the keys I would need from the reception area.
Time flew after that. I decided to get dressed into a casual button up shirt and jeans. I was much too excited for the night then to care what to wear for it. With a skip in my step, I made my way downstairs and towards the parking lot; tipping the receptionist who had helped me with the vehicle arrangements.
Luckily, the car had a GPS tracker which helped me to find Scar's home. And it wasn't located too far away from the hotel either. When I arrived, I was a little surprised at what I'd saw. The sight was one of a small apartment building, the type you'd see in any middle-class neighborhood. I whistled silently to myself, my eyes staying fixed to the building. Though Scarlett and I had known each other for a long time, we'd never quite talked about our personal lives in the real world. Especially her.
Flipping open my phone, I dialled her number. "Hello?"
"Scarlett, I'm here."
Looking up, I thought I saw someone peer from a window. It was much too quick of a glance for me to see if it was her or not.
"The black Mercedes?"
"Yep, that's me."
"Alright. I'm coming down!"
I drummed my fingers on the steering wheel, feeling excited. I turned my head when I heard the creak of the entrance door. Scarlett walked towards the car, giving me a small smile and looking completely stunning.
She was wearing a dress, similar to the one I'd always liked to see on her. The deep emerald color of the gown brought out that of her own eyes, her blonde hair cascading down her shoulders. She gave me a grin, a genuine one and opened the door to the car, getting in gracefully.
"Hey," she said, looking a little nervous as she stared at me, waiting for me to say something.
I smiled at her and leaned in, whispering, "You look beautiful." It was at that moment that something happened...I wasn't sure if it was just my imagination or pure luck at that second. But as my lips softly brushed against Scarlett's, for the shortest second, I thought I felt her kiss me back.
