For three nights straight all the vampire did was dine on blood and alcohol, the local town was growing agitated and scared. Bodies were piling up and not a single suspect had been found. The city had decided that they were under the icy finger of a stone cold serial killer with no discrimination. Women, men, children...all ended up dead, in all hours of the night. The death toll had now now reached twenty.
Adder sat at his familiar spot in the bar, the place where he had met Stephanie. For a human she was strangely kind and unafraid of him attacking and drinking from her, not that he would. She had become his sole form of support, talking about everything and helping him to make it to the bar and avoid the civilian patrols for the supposed 'serial killer'. She had even helped him home when he was too tired or too drunk to make it. He frowned at her as she smiled, ordering him water and making him think it was vodka.
"Are you ever going to be done with your rampage?" She asked calmly, placing a hand atop his. Adder growled but it was just for show, he didn't want to appear weak even in his blood crazed fury. He stared at her, a fang caught on his lower lip as he leaned back and tugged his hand from her grasp.
He couldn't help but like the human girl, how when Calla was getting sweet on Demrin, she stood by his side and comforted him...that's what Calla should have been doing. Standing at his side and telling him that it was all a lie and that nothing had ever happened.
"No! I'm hungry and I'll eat whatever I please!" He grunted wiping the blood of a child from his chin. His eyes flicked to the clock, it was only two at night and there were so many more victims to take down. Why go back to the house where Calla and Demrin would be fucking in his bed, no, there's no reason to go home. He didn't want to see Calla...how the hell could she look him in the eyes. They had made love together and he thought it was real, Adder sighed, knowing he was just a simple fool.
"This is got to end sometime Adder, you can't just keep staying out all night and going back to sleep in the basement like some pop-culture Dracula." Adder snarled at the name Dracula, that over glorified noble always in the public mind when there were other vampires that deserved way more credit.
"I'll stop when I feel better!" He snapped bitterly, Stephanie raised an eyebrow at him.
"And when will that be? When Calla comes back and tells you that she never had sex with Demrin? When she apologizes for using you as a fuck buddy? I'm curious, when will any of that transpire?" Adder snarled and latched his fingers around her throat making her gasp as he was suddenly on the table and pinning her to the booth wall. Stephanie struggled a bit but his grip was like a vice that locked her in place.
"It'll be when I finally figure out what the fuck I'm gonna do with that succubus! I gave my freaking heart to her! That's something that doesn't get handed over easily, and she used me and played me like a harp! Somehow she knew the vampire that turned me and then she meets me. If she knew Everette, she'd know that Vampires can only love one person...break that trust and I'm as good as a pitbull without a chain!" As he pulled his hand away from her neck, small reddish purple bruises began to burn on her skin. "Sorry," he muttered and returned to his seat.
Stephanie watched him carefully tracing the marks on her neck before sighing and standing to walk away. Adder was suddenly behind her, his arms wrapped around her waist and his head rested on her shoulder.
"Thank you Stephanie," he murmured, breath fanning softly on her neck. "No one else took the time of night to actually listen to me and help me, even if you don't agree with how I'm venting my anger." Stephanie smiled and placed her hands over Adders and hummed, swaying her hips left and right.
"You know there are others who accept you, Adder. People who appreciate your talents for murder and you artistry with blood." Adder nodded, his eyes closing as he felt her hips leading his.
"And who are these others?" Stephanie smiled and pulled away, taking his hand and leading him out of the bar.
"You know them already Adder...you just have to remember," The vampire tilted his head a bit and followed the girl all the way back to the mansion. His drunken stupor wearing off by the time they reached the front door, if only Calla knew that he was doing this cause he didn't understand his emotions and what was going on between them. Stephanie smiled and squeezed his hand, opening the door for him to go in.
"Coming?" The vampire asked looking at her, Stephanie smiled and nodded.
"I want to take a stroll in the remaining night. Go ahead and go off to bed, we'll see each other again." Adder nodded and walked into the house, shutting the door behind him.
"Where were you?" Demrin's voice asked calmly from where he was sitting next to the fireplace.
"Out!" Adder snapped flashing his fangs, "Where were you, fucking my lover...oh my bad, your lover!" The vampire stalked off upstairs, leaving Demrin speechless. When he entered his room, he plopped down on his bed and curled up in the covers. Trying to keep himself from slipping away again.
"Adder..." a voice came from a shadow in the room, he didn't respond, fingers twitching over the silken sheets and wondering if they'd already been soiled. "Adder please...talk to me." He snarled a bit and sat up, looking at the figure.
"Calla..." he murmured, tipping on the razors edge of hundreds of different emotions.
