JJ: ApologiesMature

Wrapping my arm around Rollar's waist was just natural when I was around her now, and I didn't mean to upset Kyle at all. Though it made it easier to know that he was interested in someone, not that I was going to tell him that I knew. How awkward would that conversation be?

"Let's go inside," I said into the uncomfortable silence.

Kyle didn't respond, simply turning and going inside. I sighed slightly and kissed Rollar's hair, pulling her closer to comfort myself a little.

"He'll be fine," Rollar said, smiling reassuringly.

"Yeah, but when?" I murmured.

She paused for a little while, beginning to walk inside the building. "Why don't you apologise to him?" she suggested quietly, looking up at me for my reaction.

"Yeah... Yeah, I should," I agreed after a few moments.

I noticed her sigh of relief but didn't acknowledge it.

"Just be honest with him," she said, smiling.

I nodded.

Kyle had already taken one of the lifts and was heading up. Rollar and I got in the second one. As the doors closed behind us, I wrapped my other arm around her waist and just held her to me.

"What would I do without you?" I murmured, holding her close.

"I'm sure you'd be just fine."

"No, I doubt it." I kissed her forehead gently. "Still up for meeting my family this evening?"

She nodded, though I could tell something was bothering her.

"Hey, what's up?" I asked softly.

"Nothing," she murmured. "I'm fine, don't worry."

I frowned slightly but didn't push it. When the lift doors opened and we stepped out, we walked down the hallway to Rody's office. Kyle was already there.

"Sorry we're a bit late," I said, shutting the door behind us.

Rody just grunted in response. Well, he seems to like me a bit better now...

"So, tomorrow morning we're announcing our tour dates," he said, consulting a piece of paper.

"Already?" I asked.

"The album's doing really well, and we've got a fan base so I think it's time for a tour, yes."

He told us the dates, and the venues. It all seemed just fine. All except for the fact that the band itself wasn't getting along right now... I glanced across at Kyle briefly, seeing him focusing on Rody. I did the same.

It was only a relatively short meeting, basically just informing us that we'd better get ready to start travelling.

I followed Kyle quickly out of the room as he left.

"Kyle, wait," I called to him.

He stopped and, after a moment, turned around.

"What?" he said indifferently.

"Look, I want to apologise, for the way I treated you."

"Rollar put you up to this?" he asked.

"No. Well, yes, okay, she did, but I don't want things like this between us. And I know that I owe you an apology anyway, so... I'm sorry."

He looked at me in silence for a short while.

"Okay," he said, turning and walking away. I don't think he actually believed me.

"That went well," I muttered as I felt Rollar's arm loop through mine.

The End
