Rollar and I were watching TV. Well, she was watching it, I was watching her. Something on the TV made her laugh and she turned to me, about to say something. She stopped when she saw me looking at her. After a moment, she flushed and turned away, whatever she was going to say forgotten.
I turned her face back to mine and kissed her, tightening my arm around her waist. I stroked her cheek gently. God, I could spend every day like this with her, I swear.
"Are you really back for me?" she whispered as soon as I pulled away.
She'd been asking me this repeatedly ever since I came back and I never got tired of replying in the affirmative.
"Yes," I grinned.
"Honestly. What can I do to prove to you that I am?"
"I don't know. I don't suppose there is anything really."
I smiled, kissing her again.
"I love you," I murmured, wrapping both of my arms around her tightly, just holding her close.
"I love you too," she smiled.
"Why?" I asked, thinking out loud by accident.
"Well, somebody has to," she grinned, making me laugh.
"I suppose so," I chuckled.
"But, you're you," she said with a slight blush.
I smiled, touching her cheek gently. "Right back at you, beautiful," I whispered, running my thumb over her hip.
I grabbed my keys, heading for the door.
"Where are you going?" Rollar asked, appearing in the doorway of the living room. She looked worried; she must have thought that I'd changed my mind and I was leaving again.
"Just, out. I'll be back in a bit," I promised.
"But where are you going?"
"Shops. I thought we could have a movie night tonight, or whatever. I was going to get some sugary shit for us to scoff all night."
She laughed. "Lots of sugary shit, please. Do you know where Kyle went yesterday? I've not seen him since."
"Have you tried ringing him?" I asked.
She nodded. "He didn't pick up so I left a message telling him to let us know where he was. I'll try him again in a few hours."
I went over to her, looping my arms around her waist and kissing her. She kissed me back, wrapping her arms around my neck and standing on her tiptoes.
"Sugary shit coming up," I smiled as I pulled away.
She laughed and moved away a little. I kissed her cheek briefly and headed for the door again.
"I love you," I called as I closed the door behind me.
I went over to my car and got in. Once I'd slid the key into the ignition, I just sat still for a little while. I smiled, thinking about Rollar and me. I started the engine and drove away.
After parking in the multi-storey car park and buying a ticket, I walked to the shops.
I froze as I saw a coffee shop on the opposite side of the road; Kyle was there sitting opposite another guy. I could see Kyle's blush even from here, though that was possibly because I knew it would be there. Oh, my god, Kyle had met someone.
I walked on before either of them could see me. I didn't even get a clear look at the guy he was with.
I felt a sharp pang of something as I thought about the scene I'd witnessed. I walked faster down the road, shoving my hands into my pockets.
I was not jealous.
