I managed a bigger smile as Kyle got even closer to me. The need for drugs had been lessening all day, even after the encounter with Matt earlier. To be honest, I was just glad to be with Kyle, happy he was still around for me. Even happier when he seemed determined to look after me. I didn’t need him to buy me stuff to keep me happy.
"I was gonna treat you to a fancy meal but take out might have to do instead," he laughed slightly and I nuzzled his neck, feeling my smile still growing.
“We can still go out,” I told him.
"I don't mind."
“Neither do I. As long as it’s with you.” I felt my cheeks heating up a little. I knew I was being corny, but it was true. I kissed back as his lips met mine, feeling him smile against my skin.
"Take out it is. I can't snuggle you in a fancy restaurant."
I let out a hum, “what kind of take out?”
"What do you want?" he asked and I thought about it for a second.
“I’m not fussy, really. You choose.”
"It's up to you,” he smiled, and I pouted. "What?" he laughed, "I can't spoil you if I don't know what you want, gorgeous."
“Spoil me by choosing, then,” I grinned, making him chuckle. He ordered us a Chinese takeout, and I laid myself on top of him, my head on his shoulder. He kissed the top of my head, and we smiled. After a couple of minutes, I figured it was time to get Scruffles out. I’d been neglecting the poor thing lately, and I wanted to make up for it. “I’m making up for all the time I’ve not spent with him recently,” I explained when Kyle chuckled as I walked back into the living room with the squirrel on my shoulder. He nodded, and I laid back down on him, letting Scruffles have a free reign over the couch. We watched him running around, using us as a climbing frame, and Kyle played with my hair.
Once the food arrived, Kyle kissed my cheek, and I put Scruffles away again while Kyle claimed our food. He presented me with the food, and I presented him with the forks I had at the ready, the TV already on the movie channel. Kyle was more interested in me than the TV, so I snuggled up to him, making him hum. There was some horror movie on, and I shamelessly used it as an excuse to be clingy. He didn’t seem to mind, kissing my head, so I leant it on his shoulder, putting my empty box on the floor so I could concentrate fully on Kyle.
I jumped occasionally when something in the film made a loud noise while I wasn’t paying attention, pouting each time Kyle giggled at me for it. He kissed me, and I didn’t resist, kissing him back, even though I was pretending to be annoyed at him for giggling at me.
"Don’t ever change," he said with a smile.
“But I’m a transformer,” I replied, my innocent eyes on.
“Oh?” At that, I jumped up, pretending to be some kind of transformer robot type thing, sound effects and all. Kyle had been trying not to laugh, right up until I started with the noises. I grinned widely at him, glad I was finally feeling like my old self again. It might not have been much fun, but clearly the nightmare and our reactions to it had been needed to snap me out of my weird recent depression. He was still laughing, smiling up at me, and I couldn’t resist the urge to jump back onto his lap.
“See?” I turned the innocent eyes back on, and he nodded.
"Aside from that, don't ever change,” he told me, planting a little kiss on my lips.
“I won’t,” I promised, kissing back, making him smile.
