A few hours later, I remembered the surprise I’d set up for Damien. It’d taken us ages, but me and Jeanette had eventually convinced the head chef to let us have the restaurant for the night so me and Damien could have a romantic meal and Jeanette could get some practice in a real kitchen.
"What's all this for?" Damien chuckled as I slipped a tie around his head like a blindfold.
"Nothing" I giggled and he laughed.
I took his hand and led him to the restaurant, almost tempted to take the tie off to let him see the snow and how beautiful it looked. But I changed my mind, figuring he might guess where we were going. He could see the snow on the way back because let’s face it, it was hardly going to melt after a few hours, was it? I sat Damien down once we got there, giggling a little as I could tell he wanted to know where he was.
"Don't take that blindfold off yet" I said and he flashed me the impatient face.
I tiptoed off to the kitchen where Jeanette was busy cooking for us. She smiled as she saw me, hugging me briefly before going back to cooking. I thanked her with a smile and slipped back into the front of house. I undid Damien’s blindfold and smiled as he blinked, a look of shock spreading on his face as he looked around.
"Are we the only ones here?" he asked, still looking shocked.
I nodded, still smiling. He smotherhuggled me, kind of crying happy tears, and I hugged back.
"I'm sorry I couldn't do anything this good for you for Christmas" he said, burying his head in my neck.
I laughed. "Don't worry about it, gorgeous. Just being able to have you here is a good enough present for me"
I tilted my head as he kissed my neck, humming as his lips pressed against my skin more times. He nuzzled me and I faintly heard Jeanette start plating up our meal.
"I hope you don't mind that I already picked what we're eating"
"No" he smiled and I smiled back.
Jeanette came over with the food after a while and I mouthed a ‘thank you’ at her before she disappeared into the kitchen again to work on dessert. Damien kept smiling as he ate and I found it hard not to smile back.
"Thank you for this" he said, giving me a smile that was almost his proper smile.
"I wanted to do something nice for you while you were here" I smiled back.
"This is more than nice, this is amazing"
I blushed a little at that and he smiled again.
"I'd do anything for you" I said, knowing I probably sounded like a lovesick teenager.
"Break me out of jail?"
"I would if I could, gorgeous" I laughed slightly.
He chuckled and I reached over the table to hold his hand. He squeezed mine gently and I blushed a little again.
"It feels like I'm about to propose or something"
"Maybe next year" he smiled and I chuckled.
