"Come in," I heard my guest call, his voice muffled by the door. I opened the door and peered in. He had pulled on the clothes I'd given him and was glancing around my room. I was slightly self-conscious at him evaluating my bedroom. I wasn't girly and my room reflected that. I hoped he wouldn't think that as a bad thing.
"Um..." I cleared my throat, "Hey. My name's Kiora. Um... How are you feeling? You were pretty messed up when I found you."
"I'm fine thanks to you," he murmured.
"Oh, well, that's... good, I guess. So, erm, do you mind telling me how you got into such a state?" I asked quietly, keeping my curiosity to a minimum. I didn't want it to seem like I was pressuring him. It was his business after all.
"I don't know," he stated, frustrated by this, "I can only remember my name and that's it. It's Zayok by the way."
"Zayok?" I repeated uncertainly.
"X-A-O-C," he spelled it out. I shifted awkwardly, not knowing what to do next. I bit my lip in my anxiety.
"Um... are you hungry?" I asked. He nodded and I gestured for him to follow me. He jumped up eagerly and I led him downstairs to the kitchen. I quickly cooked some food and hoped my guest had no allergies to anything.
I watched him shovel the food into his mouth. Clearly, he was ravenous. I tried not to stare but I couldn't help being struck by how handsome he was.
I forced myself to look out the window. I saw movement in the darkness and froze. There was someone out there with a gun and something inside me said they were here for Xaoc.
