They were all looking sickly pale. She didn't understand what was going on. She wasn't gone very long. She was trying to think of words. She didn't know what to do, if she should call for help or what. They looked like someone just sucked the life out of them. She was fumbling for words when Christina spoke up softly, "There was a spirit in your yard. It came up to us and told us that we were next to join her."
"What? Are you guys sure?" She asked Christina.
"Yeah." They mumbled.
"You guys this was probably just a prank. People can have technology to make it seem like spirits appear. It was probably the neighbor kid, his window is facing the backyard." Michael told them.
They all started to get color back in their faces when they took that into consideration. They did think how that seemed reasonable. They all started to breath again slowly. After all of them comforted theirselves trying to talk theirselves into believing that, they looked almost happy. That's when Justin spoke up, "What took you guys so long?"
"We kinda wrecked into a tree. We are fine, but we did come baring pizza." Michael told them.
"Wow how did you guys wreck?" Lacey asked.
"The storm made us. Stupid rain, I wish it would give up already." Nicole told her. Then Nicole told them all to come inside and enjoy some pizza. She told Michael to put in a DVD. Nicole gave them all plates and opened the boxes of pizza. Michael decided to start with the DVD called "Paranormal Activity".
They all just started laughing because of what had happened outside. About halfway through the movie half of them were passed out. Nicole was thinking to herself, about how exhausted they must be from what happened. She debated on whether she should wake up Kendal and Lacey. She didn't have much to debate on though because Erik and Justin picked each of them up and took them to bed. Her, Christina, Michael, and Ryan finished watching the movie. After the movie was over Nicole decided she should probably clean up the pizza and plates. Just as she was about to get up and do it Michael grabbed her hand and told her, "Don't worry hun, I'll take care of it." He kissed her nose gently and took the plates inside the kitchen and washed them. She just thought to herself of how lucky she was. There was like no downside to him. She couldn't believe he was so hansome and polite. She decided to go upstairs and change into her pajamas.
Her pajamas consisted of a pair of shorts and a comfy t-shirt. That's what she always slept in. She went back downstairs to see that the living room was cleaned and Christina and Ryan were no longer in the living room. She figured they must have went off to bed as well. She could just imagine picking up after everyone in the morning. That was something she was dreading. She walked into the kitchen to find Michael but he wasn't in there. She quietly searched over the kitchen and dining room area for him, but couldn't find him. She walked back upstairs and saw the bathroom was door slightly opened. She stood there for a minute debating or not to go in there. As soon as she went to touch the doorknob he opened the door. He smiled at her.
She was suprised when he opened the door and started to giggle a little. He asked her, "What's so funny?" He smiled brightly when he asked.
She told him, "Nothing, you just caught me by surprise. I was just looking for you. I didn't even hear you come upstairs. You ready for bed?"
He told her absolutely. They went in her room and layed down in her bed. She hoped he wasn't going to try and get into her pants, that would be his downfall probably. Most guys are like that. Instead though he just held onto her until she was fast asleep. After she fell asleep he sat in the chair and just watched her sleep. His mind was racing with thoughts that he was having trouble controlling. He wanted to have her for the rest of her life, and knew she was the one. He didn't know if he could tell her his secret. He wondered how she would react if only she knew. He saw her starting to move around. She was having a nightmare. He slipped back into bed and started brushing her hair. He kissed her forehead gently. She calmed back down. He closed his eyes and layed silently next to her.
The storm had awoke Nicole and she opened her eyes. She looked at her alarm clock and saw that it was 10 am. She rolled over and saw him sitting there smiling at him. She was so happy that he was the first person she saw in the morning. "Why, hello there." She told him.
"Hello. It's so nice to see you in the morning. I should tell you something. I want nothing more than for you to realize just how much I want and need you in my life, now and for all time."
She just smiled and took in the words. She wanted so badly to tell him that she loved him, but she knew it would be inappropriate. She knew that she made the right choice in choosing him. She just couldn't get over that this was really happening to her. This all seemed like a dream. "I'm going to take a shower now, and then I'll cook breakfast for us." She gave him a gentle kiss.
"Sounds perfect." He told her. She hoped out of bed and grabbed two towels out of her closet and walked out of the room. She turned on the water and let it heat up before getting right in. She undressed and stared at herself in the mirror. She didn't know what he saw in her, but she was happy. She hoped into the shower and washed her hair. She decided to shave her legs, so she did so. After that she got out. She wrapped one towel around her hair and the other around her body. She walked into her room and closed her door. She forgot she had people here. Since, she never really had friends over. She locked her door and was thankful Michael wasn't in the room. She quickly threw on a pair of jeans and a cute tank top. It was blue with lace that covered her chest. She put on her cross necklace that her grandfather bought her and walked downstairs. She saw that everyone else was already up and sitting in the living room. They were also eating. She knew he must have made breakfast as well. She didn't see him so she went into the kitchen and found him fixing her plate full of eggs, toast, pancakes, and bacon. She gladly took her plate, thanked him, and went into the living room.
"So, how did you guys sleep last night? Everything alright?" She asked them all.
"Yes, it was for me. Thank you. Hey I decided we should all go to dinner tonight, and for you it's my treat." Erik told her.
"Yeah, we decided it would be nice to do something for you too." Kendal told her.
"Oh, thank you, but no thank you. I think I'm just going to turn in early tonight. Don't worry I won't be alone though. Michael is staying to keep me company." She said while smiling. They finished eating and then got their stuff together and left. She helped Michael clean up and decided that they should go to Jamocha Joe's. She really wanted a cappucino. He grabbed his keys and walked her to the car. He opened the door and drove them to get a cappucino. Upon getting a cappucino he thought it would be a good idea for them to stop so she could meet his parents. He decided he would suprise her. So, they went through Jamocha Joe's and then started driving towards his house. "Where are we going?" She asked.
"It's a surprise." He told her. She had butterflies in her stomach when he told her this. She hoped he wasn't taking her to his house. She wasn't ready for that. Especially, with all the rain her hair was getting frizzier in the minute. She just smiled and was picturing what the inside of his house looked like though. She could imagine just how lovely it was. They pulled into his driveway which was very long. His house was in the woods. They drove down the long driveway and finally reached his house. It was more beautiful then she thought.
The house was white stone with brown shutters. They had a big garden in the front yard with a black gate in front surrounding the area. They had a garden in the front filled with all different kinds of beautiful flowers. They had a garage in the back that matched the house. Michael parked his car in there, and she saw there were so many tools. She figured they were good at fixing cars as well. He went to her side of the car and opened her door and helped her out. He held her hand and walked inside. As soon as he walked in her eyes just wondered. It wasn't as fancy as she thought it would be. It was more homey. It had a wonderful baking smell to go with it. They walked into the living room and there was a beige couch with matching chair surrounding the plasma TV hanging up on the wall. They had wood floors with white carpet on the floor. Michael took her on a tour of the rest of the house and it was the same colors through out the house. The kitchen was done in apple decorations. Their kitchen looked like hers. They went down a hall where there were pictures of him and his parents hanging up. Then he showed her the bathroom which was done in white. They had a huge squared mirror up on the wall with two little lamps on each side of the wall. Underneath they had a white cabinet similar to a dresser. They had a chandlier in the ceiling and a towel rack with neatly folded towels. They had a a gorgeous soaker tub and a plasma tv with a remote hooked up. And, of course a toilet. She was just in awe. Then he showed her to his room. It was a typical teenager room. He had a king size bed with silk sheets and next to the bed was a bedside table with an alarm clock. He had posters on his wall with a dresser and a mirror above it. He had a walk in closet with clothes. They sat on his bed. He looked at her and asked, "You hungry?"
"Sure. " She laughed. He walked her into the kitchen where his parents were. They were already cooking. They were making baked chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli.
"Why hello Nicole. I hope you like what we're making." Michael's dad said.
"Yes, I do. Thank you." She told him. Michael took her into the living room and they sat down on the couch and he gave her the remote and told her to pick out something on television. She choose Law&Order SVU. They sat quietly on the couch for a little while and then Michael's parents told him dinner was ready. They went and sat at the oak wood dinner table and she felt awkward at first.
"So, Nicole I'm glad to see my son got a girlfriend finally. You're the first one that he brought home. I was hoping he would finally, even though we haven't been living here for long. It's been about two years." Michael's mother told her.
"Yeah, I'm glad he picked me too. I've had a crush on him since he came here in nineth grade." She blushed a little and took another bite of her food.
"Well I'm glad to see that he finally took you up on that crush. It's good to see my son bringing someone home. We don't really get to meet his friends. We're usually pretty busy or he just doesn't bring him home. Typical teenager." Michael's father told her while he giggled.
"Well it's a pleasure to finally meet you officially. I've heard good things about you both, but I never got the chance to meet you." She nudged her elbow at Michael. They finished eating dinner and engaging small talk. They all said their goodbye's after eating dinner and it was getting late. They had been there for awhile talking. It was dark out and Michael decided to get his stuff together and get Nicole home. He put her in the car and pulled out of the driveway. She turned on the radio and was fiddiling with the stations until she settled on one. He smiled at her and decided that he should tell her. He just didn't know how she would react. He wanted her to know that he didn't mean no harm. She was sitting there thinking how lovely his parents were, just as she expected. His house was lovely too. He was lovely. Life couldn't get more perfect than this. She just sat back and sighed she was completely happy. Hopefully her life wouldn't take a turn for the worst.
They pulled into the driveway and she got out of the car before he even had a chance to open it, because she didn't want him to feel like she was using him. She hoped right into a huge puddle. "Crap." She said. She stomped off into the house and he was behind her smiling. He just thought she was the cutest thing in the world, and he wondered how she could say yes to him. Now it was just a matter of breaking the news to her. She walked into the living room and walked upstairs she decided she needed to change. Michael figured out what she was doing and sat patiently on the couch waiting.
She came downstairs and said, "Ah, that's much better. Nice and dry. Remind me to do laundry tomorrow. I'm out of clothes, besides pj's."
"I'll be sure to remind you. Now it's getting late would you like to watch a movie, talk, or just go to bed?"
"Let's watch a movie. I'll pop popcorn, hope you like it."
"Of course I do. I'll pick out a movie." He decided to put on the Notebook. He knew this was a tearjerker, so she would probably cry. This way they can sit closely and hopefully he could tell her after. He was hoping that when he saw Ally accept Noah no matter what, she could too. He prayed she could. He was so nervous he thought he was going to turn for the worse.
She was popping popcorn and was thinking about what movie he put on. She hoped it was a cute movie. She wasn't looking for anything scary tonight. She had enough excitement for awhile. She was just looking for a relaxful night before she had to go to school. She was just thinking of how nice it was going to be just the two of them, when the phone rang. She ran over to the phone and picked it up and said, "Hello?"
There was no answer. Again she said, "Hello is anyone there?" Michael ran over to her and asked her who it was and she just shook her head. He took the phone out of her hand and said, "Who is this?" No one answered again. He hung up and unplugged the phone. He looked at her and grabbed her face and kissed her.
He said, "Don't worry, it's just a prank caller. Or, it's someone calling and the telephone poles are down. I won't let anyone hurt you so don't be scared." He truly meant that. She started to shed tears and he wiped them away and kissed her cheek. They went back in the living room with the popcorn in the bowl and sat down and watched the Notebook. Halfway through the movie he noticed that she was sleeping. He turned off the TV and picked her up slowly and took her upstairs. He put her in bed and covered her up. He went back downstairs and locked the doors and turned off the lights. He decided he wouldn't sleep tonight just to make sure that she was completely safe. He went back upstairs and layed down next to her. He just layed there and listened to her breath. After awhile she started to talk in her sleep and he just listened to her. She was talking about him. About how he cute he was and how lucky she was to have him. He just layed there and smiled. He closed his eyes and just listened to her.
In the morning Nicole woke up and there was no rain. Wow, she thought this couldn't be any better. There was no sun, but there wasn't rain either. The clouds were starting to clear up too! She turned and looked but Michael wasn't in her room. She hoped she didn't do anything in her sleep to scare him off. She knew she talked in her sleep she was just scared of what she said in it. She walked downstairs and was so happy to see him in the kitchen cooking. She snuck up behind him and wrapped her arms around him. He turned around and kissed her cheek.
"I'm going to throw some laundry in. Will you come downstairs in the basement with me to put some in? I don't like going down there by myself even though it's just an ordinary creepy basement."
"Sure, I'd love to assist you. It would be my pleasure." He carried down the laundry bag for her and she put a load in. They both went upstairs and then he finished cooking. They sat down at the kitchen table and ate breakfast. He made eggs, toast, and sausage.
"What no pancakes this time?" She asked teasing. He just laughed at her.
"Hey I was thinking about taking a shower, do you want to join me?" He asked her. He hoped she would say yes. He didn't want to get intimate with her, he just wanted to get closer to her. He couldn't get intimate with her just yet. Not until he told her his secret.
"Wow, you don't waste anytime trying to have sex do you?"
"No, young lady, I'm pretty determined. Just kidding. I just figured we can share some water. No sex. I promise I won't even try. Then I want to take you into town, and I changed our date tonight. I want to take you shopping for your dress." He explained to her.
"Wow, aren't we just spoiling me?" She teased while eating her last bite of breakfast. She washed up the breakfast dishes and then grabbed his hand. She led him upstairs and went into the bathroom. They took off their clothes and got into a warm shower. And, as he promised he didn't try to have sex with her. They got out of the shower and dryed off. She got dressed in her last pair of sweats she had with a wife beater. She put on her tennis shoes and only dreamed of how today was going to go. Michael had got dressed as well, but was in a pair of jeans and a fit just right t-shirt. He smiled at her and took her hand.
"I'll drive." He told her.
"Yes, sir." She said while laughing. She marched to the car and got in willingly. She opened her door before he could. She scooted right in and he closed the door before she got a chance. She thought this was it. He was taking her shopping. Ugh...!! Why her? She isn't a dress kind of girl. Why me? She thought. He could sense what she was thinking and snickered.
"What's so funny Romeo?" She asked him while smiling.
"You my darling." He told her. She decided to ignore him and turn on the radio. She fidgeted with the radio until finding the station she wanted. She stared out of the window wondering where he was taking her to get a dress. Hopefully nowhere super fancy. She wouldn't know what to do. They drove for a little bit until they got to Albany. He took her to Heritage Mall. "I knew you wouldn't want to go anywhere super fancy. I decided to take you to the mall." They walked through the mall hand in hand. They walked in store after store. She couldn't figure out what to wear. Finally, he found the perfect dress and insisted that she needed to try it on. It was a silk pink on top and the bottom half was black. It had a small black belt going around the waist. She tried it on and just looked gorgeous. He told her he had to get it. She actually loved it too. She thought it looked perfect. Now she had to get shoes. Ugh, she thought this just doesn't end. As, he dragged her through stores. Finally she found the perfect stiletto heels, black. She bought them. She couldn't wait to go to dinner.
While they were at the mall he insisted they take pictures together in one of the little booths. She laughed but agreed. They made the silliest faces they could. Once they printed out, he gave them to her to keep. She kissed him and didn't care for once if other people were looking or not. She held onto him for all she was worth. She finally let go him and he decided that he could tell her. He would tell her after dinner tonight. So then he asked, "Wow all that for a dress and shoes? I can't wait till after dinner."
She laughed and said, "Well Mr. you might just get lucky tonight. I just have to let you know though I'm not easy to get into bed."
He told her, "Well I'm not trying. I just want to get to know you better." He pushed hair back out of her face and and then kissed her gently. She just smiled at him and thought that he was the one. She knew that there wasn't anyone else out there that could possibly make her this happy. She grabbed his hand and walked with him outside to the car.
"Now where?" She asked jokingly.
"Well let's see what would you like to do? We have about six hours to kill before dinner time."
"It's definatly up to you."
"Well since it finally stopped raining, how would you like to play some baseball with my friends and family?"
"Baseball? Sure, I'm not really good though."
"It's no problem, I can help you." He winked at her and then called his mom and told her to get the gang together. By the time they rolled around everyone was in the woods waiting for them. They parked the car and got out. They walked up to everyone else. Nicole was getting nervous.
"Nicole, you remember my mom and dad right? This is my cousins Edward, Todd, Cory. These are my friends Jarod, Andrew, Jacob, and Josh. They live out here too. We all bought houses this close together because we all want to stay close. You haven't met them because none of them are in school. They already graduated last year and the year before. Well except my parents."
"Hi, it's nice to meet you all. I see that's why I never met them." She started fidgeting and was worried what they all thought about her. They all seemed nice though. Then the game started. Nicole and Michael's mother sat on the side lines and judged who was safe and not. After that Michael took her home to shower and then to change for dinner.
"They all seemed nice." She told him while she was getting dressed.
"They are. They will be part of your family in the future too. I hope at least when things become more serious."
She turned around and smiled at him and said, "I hope so too." She finished getting dressed and put on her make up. Then she turned around for him and waited for her opinion. She hoped she looked as good as she thought.
"You are the most beautiful girl in the world. Those top models don't even compare to you, my love." He kissed her hand and laced his with hers. He took her downstairs and out to the car. He helped her in.
"So, where are you taking me?" She asked.
"That's a surprise young lady." He smiled while looking at her. She blushed and couldn't wait to find out where he was taking her. She never actually been on a date. This was her first and she was definatly nervous. Then again he was her first for a lot of things. She never took a shower with anyone before either. She never invited a boy to stay the night with her. She was hoping that he would be her first in bed as well. Interrupting her thinking they pulled into a restaurant. "Close your eyes." He told her. She did as she was told. He pulled into the parking lot and parked. He walked over to her side and said, "No peeking." He took her hand and helped her out of the car. He walked her up to the door and then told her to open her eyes. She did. She was at Sybaris. It was fancy but not extreme that she would feel uncomfortable.
They walked in and got a table. Then he decided right after dinner was when he was going to tell her. On the way home so she couldn't run away. If she jumped out of the car then he would save her. They sat down and he started asking her questions so that way he could get to know her better. They were having a fabulous time. Then she asked him, "What's your downside?"
"What do you mean?"
"There has to be something that isn't so great about you. I mean come on. You're attractive, you're muscular, you have manners, you are absolutely perfect. There has to be something."
"There is something. There's a darker side of me. I would prefer to tell you after dinner. I just want you to know that the darker side of me is for good."
"What do you mean the darker side of you?" She grinned but she thought he was being serious. He just smiled and told her to not worry. Then he started making a couple jokes and tried easing her back into where they were. They finished dinner and he walked her into the car. He decided this was the time to tell her.
He had to tell her...
