Michael picked his head up finally and looked around. He couldn't believe what happened. That's when he saw her. He saw her body looking lifeless and limp against the door and window. It looked like there was blood coming out from her head. He looked at himself to make sure he wasn't bleeding, but he was perfectly fine. The next thought was to get out of the car and get around to her side. He walked to the front of the vehicle where his car was smashed into the tree. It wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. He would just have to get a big dent out and a paint job. He walked over to her side and opened up the door. He pulled her out and layed her down on the ground. He felt her pulse which was shallow. He started giving her mouth to mouth. Her eyes started to flutter and she could finally open them. She looked staright up at him and whispered, "What happened?"
"We hit a tree, but don't worry everything is going to be ok. Your head is cut, but it doesn't look like it will need stitches. Do you feel alright?"
"Yeah, I'm just a little lightheaded. Can you get me out of the rain and wet grass please?"
"Sure, no problem. I'll start the vehicle right up after I get you in."
He helped her into the car and then put the key into the ignition. He turned the key and the vehicle started right up. He said a thankful prayer and put the car in reverse and pulled back onto the road.
"Are you sure your ok? Do you want me to take you to the hospital or anything? Anything you need, I can do for you."
"No, honestly I'm alright. Let's just go get the pizza, there's no point in ruining everyone else's night too. I know I sound crazy but I can use some pizza."
"If you say so. I think you're just a little crazy. But, you make an excellent point on not ruining everyone else's night. So, pizza it is. " He chuckled while saying this.
"Is your car going to be alright? I bet it will be expensive to fix. I'm sorry for making you go out in this storm."
"Money is no problem for me, so I'm not too worried about how much it costs. I'll take it to the shop tomorrow. There's no reason for you to be sorry, I chose for both of us to come out. It should be me sorry for dragging you out, I just wanted to spend some alone time with you."
"Well if that was the case, all you had to do was say so. I would have agreed anyway. I do want to get to know you better. You didn't drag me out, I agreed to come. I knew how bad the weather was. Look at you though, you don't have one scratch on you. You sure are lucky." She wondered just how much money he had. She also wondered if he would make it official between them after tonight. She also wanted to meet his parents officially. She knew who they were. Everyone did. His dad was a successful doctor at their local hospital, and his mother was a beautiful lady who was a housemother. She had long red hair with a pale complexion. She had bold blue eyes and was petite. She looked like an angel from heaven. And his father, Mr.McGregor was just as hansome. He had blond hair that he pushed back, but it wasn't too long. He had beautiful blue eyes and was also skinny. He was tall though. Every girl dreamed about him in their sleep.
Breaking her train of thought he started talking. "I guess this means I have to make it up to you for tonight. It would be my pleasure though. How about dinner at this restaurant I know?"
"You don't have to do that, really. This wasn't your fault. But, I will take you up on your offer to go to dinner sometime. What restaurant? Denny's?" She asked jokingly.
He took her hand and kissed it. "No, mademoiselle. It will be more fancy than that. So, you pick the day and I will take you."
"That is definatly up to you. This was your idea, I'm just going along with it."
"Friday night then. It will be a romantic night. And, don't worry about an outfit. I will have something ready for you. You just worry about your hair."
"Wow, are you sure? I'm sure I can find something in my closet. Honestly, you really don't have to do all of this."
"If I mind I wouldn't have asked. I won't take no as an answer, and guess what? We are here for pizza. I'll run in and pay, you just sit your pretty little self in the car and wait for me. I promise I'll keep an eye on you. If anything happens just flicker the lights."
"Okay, thank you." She just couldn't get it out of her head that all of this was happening. All she could do was just smile. He was so romantic and charming. How could he be this romantic? He was only 17 and a junior. His parents really must have raised him right. They were pretty laid back but also old fashioned. They had manners especially in public. They also liked to have a laugh. At least that's all she noticed about them. She admired them. Interrupting her thoughts again a knock on her window came. She looked and it was Michael. She opened her door and he handed her pizzas. She put them on her lap and he walked over and got on the other side of the car. He opened his door and slid right in, and gave her a smile. He turned the car on.
"Now for our adventure back. Let's try not wrecking this time." Nicole told him while trying to hold the giggle in, but it was unsuccessful.
"You got it. I'm all about not wrecking. If the stupid storm would let up, then we wouldn't have a problem at all." He told her while smiling.
They were driving back to her house and the roads were almost pitch black. Half the street lights were out. She was scared and was shaking a little. He took her hand and squeezed it. "You know everything is going to be alright. I won't let anything or anyone hurt you. You have my word. You mean too much to me already."
"You're probably the sweetest guy I ever met. And, I'm so lucky to know you. Can I ask you a serious question?"
"Ask me anything and I will be as honest as I possibly can."
"I think something weird is happening to our town. I thought I saw someone in the middle of the road earlier going to pick up Christina but the person or whatever just disappeared. I feel like I'm going crazy. Please don't tell anyone."
"It's no problem. I won't tell. Your secrets are safe with me dear. I also have noticed that something different is going on. If you think you are seeing ghosts maybe you shouldn't be driving by yourself. When does your mom get home?"
"She doesn't get home until next week. It's not a guarantee though. I hate being home alone. I wish my father never took off."
"Well I'm sorry to hear about your father. Some men just can't handle having a family. You deserve a better father anyway. I'm sorry your mom is gone. If you would like I can stay with you, as long as your mother doesn't mind. Or, you can stay with us. I'm sure my parents would love to have you over. By the way, do you want to meet them? As you can guess I want to make this official between us."
"I would love to meet your parents, but can we stay at my house? I don't want my first impression to be staying over at their house. I would love it even more if we were official."
"Ok, then it's set. I'm so happy that you agreed to be my girlfriend. I can feel this is going to be a very promising relationship."
They pulled up into the driveway of her house. She went to open and the door and he told her to wait. He got out of the car and opened her door. He took the pizzas and helped her out. He grabbed her hand and they walked into the house. They walked in and her friends weren't in the living room. She screamed for them but noone answered her. She looked up in the bedrooms and their bags were there, but they weren't. She called their cellphones but noone answered. She was definatly getting worried. She remembered their car was still in the driveway. She turned to Michael and asked, "Where do you think they could have went? There's nothing on my street but houses."
"I'm not sure, but we definatly can look around. If you want you can wait here and I will look around."
"Oh no you don't. I'm not staying anywhere by myself. I have seen enough scary movies. I'm not stupid."
He laughed and took her hand. They searched their house but found noone. They went out front and looked but only saw darkness. They went to the back and saw specks of light coming from the farthest end of the backyard. They slowly walked over and found her friends. They built a small fire in the fire pit. She exhaled and was so relieved that they found them. She walked over and noticed something different about them. They were all acting very weird while sitting around the fire. Then she looked at their faces and she couldn't believe what she saw.
