I sat down  at the back of the class and looked around the room. There was a few people I recognised. Sam came in the door and smiled at me. He came over and sat next to me.

"Hey."  he said sitting down next to me.

"Hi. You get any sleep?"

"Nope" I smiled and turned to the front as the teacher called up the first name.

A girl with an acoustic guitar went up on the stage. Nearly everyone looked up to awe or glared at her. I rolled my eyes shaking my head slightly. Sam nudged me with his elbow gently, I looked at him "What?" he mouthed, I shook my head again looking to the front as she started.

She played ‘The Best Damn Thing' by Avril Lavigne. It was actually pretty good. Everyone over clapped though, especially the teacher. Something was going on with this girl, but I couldn't work out what.

Then another girl sang one of her originals. I liked it personally.

Sam nudged me again. "What are you gunna play?" he whispered leaning into me.

"What I'm feeling"

"What are you feeling?" he smiled.

"You'll just have to wait and see won't you."

Everybody clapped as the next person finished. "Emma" The teacher called my name. I walked up to the stage and sat at the piano. I started to play Kate Nash's ‘Do Wah Do' which I thought was perfect for the situation. Plus it had a nice beat to it.

‘Everybody thinks that girl's so fine' I began to sing with the piano
‘Everybody's like "I'll make her mine."
Everyone thinks she's a bit of alright
But I think that she's not so nice'

‘Every guy's looking in her eyes
Every guy's checking out her thighs
Everyone thinks that girl's a lady
But I don't, I think that girl's shady.'

‘But I'll just read a book instead
I don't care if we're just friends
I can hang out with myself
I'm old enough now to pretend'

‘But I'll just read a book instead
I know that you think she's first
I don't even think she cares
I don't know what you see,'

"Theres nothing there" I spoke the last words, everybody seemed to like it accept the girl who sang The best damn thing.  I was proud that I was in tune all the way, she seemed pretty annoyed at that fact too which made me smile even more. There was something about her that I didn't like.

"Nice."  Sam said as I took my place next to him again.

"Thanks" I grinned as the next person took there place on the stage.
