Kate was hilarious. She made me laugh so much and she had the best facial expressions in the world. She could do impressions as well. Her impression of the producer on our set made me choke on my hot chocolate.
"Rosa! Rosa! Why is that dancer up in the air? This isn't a film about flying you know! Get her down now! Oh it's a lift in the dance? Oh, I knew that!" I laughed until my sides burst.
"Stop stop!" I gasped out. She giggled and took a sip out of her hot chocolate. I took a deep breath. "You're too much Kate. No one's made me laugh that much in a while."
"Well you were in need of it."
"Thank you for this. It's nicer than being home alone."
"I should hope so too. Here try this." She wiggled a fork with chocolate cake in front of me.
"You are going to make me fat!"
"No I'm not. Just eat the cake." I took it, looking at her as I refused to let go of the fork. She fought me and then laughed and let go.
"That is gorgeous," I mumbled through the cake, giving her back the fork. She took a bite out of the cake and grinned. Then she began doing impressions again. I was laughing so much I hardly felt my phone buzzing in my pocket. I flipped it open still laughing.
"Rosa?" I stopped laughing.
"Annie?" Kate looked knowingly across the table and started pulling faces again. I did my best not to laugh.
"Hey, um...I was wondering whether...whether you could pick us up at the airport. And whether I'm still welcome in...our house."
"Umm..yeah, yeah that should be ok." I let out a snort of laughter as Kate started doing impressions of me on the phone.
"Rosa? Are you, sure. I mean we can always..."
"No, you're still my friend Annie. I can't leave you on the street can I?" I was still giggling and I don't think she took me seriously. I stopped laughing and playfully hid behind the menu's away from Kate. "When does your plane land?"
"In about five hours."
"Well I'll be there."
"No problem." Kate peeped over the menu's and pulled a face and then reached round to tickle me. "Sorry Annie, I've got to go. I have someone I have to kill."
"Bye." I put the phone down and began tickling Kate back.
We were asked to leave by the manager.
Kate and I stumbled back to mine laughing.
"That was so much fun!"
"Did you see his face?"
"Ha! Young ladies, I must ask you to leave the premises immediately!"
We chuckled and collapsed on to the sofa. I checked the time.
"Ok, I have two hours. What do you want to do?"
"Alright then, let's watch a DVD. I have popcorn."
We settled on the sofa with a romantic comedy. We laughed and cried through the film, and when it finished I realised I had to go now to pick up Annie and Liliana.
"I have to go."
"Oh yeah. Annie."
"Do you want me to give you a lift?"
"Ok, let's go then."
As we drove I began to get nervous about seeing Annie again. Kate calmed my nerves.
"It'll be fine. Don't worry, just be yourself. Oh and she'll love your new look."
"No problem." We stopped outside of her house. "Well, I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Yeah, more dance, more drama."
"Yup, and then there's the fact that we have to go out for drinks again."
"Maybe not in the same place though."
"Good idea." She grinned, then got out of the car. "See you!"
"Bye!" She came round the other side of the car and kissed my cheek.
"You'll be fine."
"What was that for?"
"Good luck." She grinned, pulled another face and then skipped inside. I was still smiling when I reached the airport. I sat in the comfy sofa waiting for the plane. When it landed I stood and waited. The doors opened.
Not Annie. Not Annie. Not Annie.
Annie. She walked through the doors with Liliana in a carry cot. She was looking round, and she skimmed over me twice. Then I remembered I looked a little different. New clothes, new hair, new piercing...she didn't recognise me. Well more of a surprise for her then. I looked down straightening out my leather jacket. I was wearing my skinny jeans, my heels and a sliced red and black top. I looked back up. A man was with Annie, talking to her. He was looking around too. I walked confidently up to her and took the handle of Liliana's carry cot. She jumped and the man standing next to her jumped protectively in front of her.
"Excuse me? Who are you?" I stared him down. Annie peered round his shoulder.
"Rosa?" Annie stared at me. "Oh my god, it really is you. You've changed!"
"And your tanned. Who's this?"
"Rosa, this is Jake. My fiancee." I stared up at Jake, who was now getting out of my face as he realised his mistake, and counted the days. Three days. Three days and she had a fiancee. Well, she moves fast.
"Seriously? You have to be joking right?"
"No." She looked nervous. I decided to put her at ease.
"Well, as long as you're happy, I suppose it's ok. But if you hurt her pal, I'll break your skinny little arms like they're twigs." I took Liliana from Annie and cooed in her face.
"Hello beautiful, did you miss me?"
