There was a chance that Annie's baby was going to have problems, especialy because of being born prematurely. I took a moment outside to get some air. Then I called Iris.
"Look, I don't think we should do it. Annie's just been admitted to hospital again."
"All the more reason to do it! She'll realise she needs you!"
"Are you sure? I mean I don't want to add to her pressure."
"I'm so sure."
"Ok, fine. I'm going to go back and see her."
I went back to the room, and just outside I bumped in to Jonathan.
"What are you doing here?"
"Same as you. Seeing the woman I love."
"You don't love her. And anyway, we've broken up until she gets over you."
"Ouch. So that's why she's all over me."
"Liar." I pushed past him.
"Are you ok?"
"No. The baby. The baby Rosa!"
"You'll get through this." I took her hand. She reached up trying to kiss me. "No Annie. I told you." Annie sank back on to her bed, but she didn't cry. I think she was accepting it.
"Look, I've got to go. I'm meeting...a friend at the italian in about two hours. They say you can go, as soon as you feel better." She sat up and watched me leave.
I heade home and changed, and then went to grab a coffee with Cassy and Iris to prepare. I hope Annie turns up.
