Hmmm, what could Cane do to repay me for saving his life? Well, I distinctly remembered my “boyfriend” telling me over dinner that he was trying to get an acting job. And Cane’s agent needed an actor…
“I know exactly what you can do” I said, an evil grin on my face.
“Oh God, what?” Cane asked. The look on his face was priceless.
I looked at Maxxie and winked before turning to Cane’s agent. “That acting job… Get Maxxie in on it and I’ll forget Cane even said anything”.
Cane’s manager looked from me to Cane then back again. “Get me a phone” she said and I tossed her mine.
She quickly and expertly dialed a number and held the phone to her ear. “Yeah, Bill? About that actor? I found a guy. I don’t know if he’s any good! At least I found a guy! Look, I’ll bring him down later and you can see what he’s like, okay? Good. I’ll catch you later” she said, throwing the phone back. Which I barely caught, I might add.
I squeezed Maxxie’s hand and pressed the tip of my nose to his with a smile.
“Maxxie, wasn’t it?” the woman asked and Maxxie nodded, “ I’ll call you later about that acting job. Kid, c’mon, I need a new phone” she said the last part to Cane as the two of them were walking out the door.
“Don’t you need…?” Maxxie trailed off as the woman, whose name I would find out, turned and winked at him.
“I have contacts”.
And with that, they were gone. I snuggled into Maxxie’s shoulder and smiled.
“You didn’t have to do that” he said after a while.
It was silent again for a while before Maxxie spoke. “How can I make it up to you?”
“You don’t have to”
“I want to”
“In that case, I can think of a few ways” I said, picking Maxxie up as I stood.
“Oh really?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
I answered him with a kiss and carried him back to bed. Perfect.
