The day Cayden got back was... kind of weird. It’s like, he’d been on exactly the same planet yet everything that had happened here, he had no knowledge of. And everything that happened to him, we had no knowledge of. He didn’t know I’d been stabbed and I didn’t know if he’d scored with anyone. Not that I’d particularly want to know, if I’m honest with you. I was kind of surprised that he hugged me before Maxxie, though. I know we made up and everything but I wasn’t expecting that. I hugged back and he smiled.
“Nice to see you again, Hads”
“Nice to see you too”
He moved on to Maxxie, hugging him just as tightly as he’d hugged me. “I missed you, man"
"I missed you too"
"Dude, don't ever go abroad"
"Why not?" Maxxie laughed.
"Way too much drama"
"Do I have to?"
"I'm gonna take that as a yes"
Maxxie grinned, getting us all a beer each and Cayden groaned.
"I met a guy and then I met a guy who was dressed as a girl because he was poor but he's not poor and then the first guy went to Paris and we followed him and shit happened. Good enough?"
"No, but I guess it can wait" he laughed and Cayden glared.
Maxxie pulled out the innocent face.
"You still suck"
Maxxie giggled and Cayden pouted. Maxxie prodded him.
"I can't help it if your story sounds interesting"
"It made me decide something, though" he said and Maxxie looked at him curiously. "I decided 'fuck it, I'm gonna be a nun'" he grinned and Maxxie giggled.
"Sure. Have fun with that"
"I'd be a fucking hot nun"
Maxxie nodded and Cayden smirked.
"Glad you agree"
"Who's a what?" I asked. I hadn’t really been paying attention but when you hear the phrase ‘hot nun’, you know something’s not right.
Maxxie prodded me. "Keep up, gorgeous"
"I'm not paying attention"
He tutted, making me pout. He pecked my cheek and I smiled.
"So, Ava told me the big news" Cayden said, smiling a little.
"Did she?" Maxxie asked.
"Yep. I'm ashamed neither of you told me"
"We would've if you hadn't fucking vanished"
"I didn't vanish. I said I'd be back in five minutes, and here I am"
"We must have very different ideas of five minutes"
"It was a very long five minutes. Time works differently in other countries..."
"Why didn’t you tell us you were going at least? You didn’t have to say where but some warning would have been nice"
"I didn't want anyone to know" he shrugged.
Maxxie smiled slightly.
“So, what’s been happening while I’ve been gone?”
Oh boy, Cayden. Where to start?
