I woke up with no memory of ever falling asleep. I looked around; half expecting to see Jake somewhere but the room was empty, save for me. There was one of those money briefcase things on the bedside table with a note on top. Things like that are never good...
I read the note and added Jake’s number to my cell before reluctantly taking the money. I felt kind of bad taking it, especially considering I was hardly short of cash myself but I figured I could put it to good use. I dropped it off at Ava’s and was just about to go see if I could find Taylor when he appeared apparently out of nowhere and wrapped me in a hug. Turns out he’d dropped by to see me and Ava said he could wait there til I came home. Don’t even ask me where she was. He planted a kiss on my cheek and whispered “Come back to mine”.
“You okay?” he asked, once we were there.
“Are you okay? You’ve been kinda quiet all morning”
“Yeah, I’m fine. It’s just...”
I sighed. “Jake’s got a crush on me and I feel bad because I don’t feel the same way”
He hugged me. “You shouldn’t feel bad; it’s not your fault”
“I know but I can’t help it”
“Where is he now?”
“On a plane, I guess. He said he’s going to Paris”
“Where he’ll find himself a nice French guy” Taylor smiled.
“I guess” I sighed again and he hugged me a little tighter.
I hugged back and smiled a little as he ghosted kisses along my jaw. Something about being with him reminded me too much of Maxxie. Maybe it was the cuddling. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t complaining. Being on my own had sort of made me appreciate the smaller things more. So why, when I’m getting used to just cuddling, did he have to go and drop this on me?
“What?” I asked in shock.
“Cayden, I want you to fuck me”
I bit my lip. “Taylor, I-”
“You fucked Jake the first time you met him” he said bluntly.
That’s true, Taylor, but it was just a drunken fuck. That was what I wanted to say but I couldn’t get my mouth to formulate words. All my mouth did manage to formulate was a kiss. A slow, sweet kiss that didn’t break til the both of us were lying in bed. I kissed him once more before stripping him, casting an eye over every inch of him. Fuck, he was gorgeous. I trailed a finger down his chest and he mumbled at me to get on with it. So I did. And it was fucking amazing.
I lay there with Taylor snuggled up to me. He’d fallen asleep but I wasn’t so lucky. I lay there thinking about Jake. Things still weren’t right between us. Should I go to Paris? He might get the wrong idea and that’d just make things worse. Y’know what? Fuck it, I’m going.
“Aren’t you forgetting something?” I heard Taylor’s voice behind me.
I looked round to see him lugging a suitcase towards me. He smiled as I looked at him.
“What’re you doing here?” I asked as he kissed my cheek.
“I’m coming too”
“Why? I mean, can you even afford this?”
He sighed. “Look, Cayden, I lied to you”
I arched an eyebrow.
“I’m not some penniless surfer; I’m a spoilt rich kid, okay?”
“Like hell you are” I said, with a slight laugh.
“I’m not kidding, Cayden. The reason I don’t have a job? I don’t need one. I’ve got enough cash to live comfortably til I’m fucking eighty. Thing is, everyone around here knows that so I can’t trust any of them. They only want me for my money. But then you came along and...”
“That’s... That’s actually kind of twisted”
“I know, but I had to know you liked me for who I was”
I shook my head. “Go home, Taylor”
“Taylor, please just go home”
I sighed. “Tay-”
“No, Cayden. I’ve paid for my ticket, this is entirely my choice. Now, if you don’t mind, I’m going to Paris” he said huffily and stormed off.
Well, that was confusing.
