The day Maxxie was leaving snuck up on me and before I knew it, we were stood in the airport. Even though I’d packed and repacked his suitcase about fifty times and made extra sure that he had his passport and ticket and everything he’d need, I was still convinced he’d left something behind.
"Sure you've got your passport?"
He nodded. "It's in my pocket"
"And you've got your ticket, right?"
"Yep" he said, smiling slightly.
"Right. I should probably stop panicking, huh?"
He slipped an arm around my waist. "Yeah. I don't want you panicking over me"
I leant my head on his chest and hugged him. "Don't get stabbed or mugged or anything. I want you back in one piece"
He kissed the top of my head, cuddling me. "I'll be fine. I grew up there - I think I can handle it"
"I know, I'm just being paranoid" I chuckled.
"Now, no panicking or worrying while I'm away, okay?"
"I can't promise anything but I'll do my best" I smiled and he kissed me.
I kissed back and he huggled me tight. I hugged back even tighter and he hummed.
"I'm gonna miss you"
"Mmm. You sure you're gonna be okay on your own?" he asked and I nodded. He kissed my forehead. "Alex might be round at some point to make sure you've not blown the place up"
I giggled. I think I can just about manage not blowing the apartment up.
"And if the ginger one turns up, tell him I still hate him"
I giggled again. "You say that like you didn't almost get a blowjob out of him punching you in the balls"
He huffed and I pecked him on the lips.
"Poor baby, I'll make it up to you when you get back"
"I should hope so too" he pouted and I smiled. "I might use one of those days I get from my Christmas present" he chuckled.
I giggled. "I'll look forward to it"
He hummed and kissed me kind of hard. "Me too"
I kissed back just as hard and he smiled. I felt my face fall into a sad expression.
"Anyway, you, you'll miss your plane at this rate"
He kissed me slowly and I didn’t want it to end. It had to though as he pulled away to say "I love you so, so much"
"I love you with everything I have"
He squeezed me. "Text me"
"I will" I said with a smile. "Let me know when you've landed"
"I will if I've not passed out in the cab to a hotel" he laughed and I laughed as well.
"I don't care if it's coherent, just something so I know the plane didn't crash or anything"
"You have my word" he chuckled, looking at the departure board, "I better go"
We shared another slow kiss which ended all too quickly.
"Stay safe, gorgeous. I love you" Maxxie said.
"I love you too. Don't meet any cute guys"
"I won't. No one quite as cute as you" he pecked me on the lips and headed off.
I watched him go, standing there for a good few minutes even after he was out of sight. Why did I stand there so long? I don’t know. I guess I was just sort of hoping that he’d turn round and be like “fuck it, I can see my mom another time”. With a sigh I left the airport and headed back to the apartment. It felt empty without him. And quiet. I’m not saying he makes a lot of noise but the place did just seem quiet without him. I switched on the TV just for some background noise and went into the bedroom to tidy up a little. Well, that and to go get one of Maxxie’s shirts. Yeah, he’d been gone like five minutes and I already needed to cuddle one of his shirts.
