Hadley: French ToastMature

We didn’t go for pizza and a move in the end. Neither of us could be bothered to move. Sure we ordered a pizza a little later on and watched a movie on TV but that hadn’t been the initial point. We eventually stumbled into bed and thanks to all the warm cuddles, I was asleep in minutes.

For what was possibly the first time ever, I was awake after Maxxie. He pecked me on the lips and went off to make breakfast. Thought you couldn’t cook at all, Maxxie. He had the TV on for background noise more than anything and yet another Christmas ad or seven came on. I heard him complaining about it really quite loudly and he turned the TV off.

"Oh shush, it's not that bad" I said, shaking my head a little even though he couldn’t see.

"I dunno what to get anyone for christmas"

"Just get stuff you think they'd like"

"That just stresses me out" he came in with two plates of French toast, settling back into bed, "'cause I dunno if they'll like it. And then I feel like a tit if I got it wrong"

"Is everything this stressful for you?" I laughed.

"Put it this way, Alex and me stopped celebrating Christmas and birthdays a long time ago. It's weird getting back into it

"Well, I promise next year we can do Christmas your way"

He pecked me on the cheek. "We don't have to" he smiled. "You'll just have to put up with me panicking about buying stuff"

I chuckled. "I'll just have to do something to chill you out then, won't I?"

He thought for a moment and offered with a laugh "Cover my arm in nicotine patches?"

"If you'd prefer that" I said kind of sadly and pulled a fake hurt face.

He giggled. I sniffled and ate some of the breakfast. Considering he can’t cook, it wasn’t that bad. A lot like that carbonara he can’t make.

"Cheer up, gorgeous" he smiled and I hummed.

"So, what's the plan for today?"

"Sure" I said, grinning a little.

The look in his eye said he was vaguely worried by my enthusiasm for shopping. Can you blame me, though? Stuff gets cheap around Christmas. And with everything cheap, I don’t have to worry so much about him spending too much on me. I grinned a little more at the thought and kissed his cheek. He turned his head, catching my lips with his own and I hummed.

"You might actually have to tell me what you like for once" he smirked a little bit and bit into his breakfast.

I arched an eyebrow at him. Then again, it’s not that surprising that he has no idea what I like. I seriously don’t mind what people get me. I’ve still got half the shit presents in my room at Mom and Dad’s somewhere.

"I know you like Dodge Vipers. And if you're not careful, I'll end up getting you one" he chuckled and I laughed.

"I could maybe ignore the price tag on one of those. Maybe... Probably not"

He smiled.

I smiled back and shrugged a little. "I don't really know what I like"

He put an arm round me and I leant into him a little. He went back to his breakfast and I ate a little more of mine, not really hungry. I should probably take my iron pill... Maxxie huggled me when he was done eating and I hugged back.

"Want the rest of this?"

He ate a bit and I smiled. I guess there’s no worry of him getting anaemia. He leant over and kissed me, smiling as I kissed back.

"Can we go shopping today? I need help choosing stuff for your family" Didn’t we already agree to go shopping?

"Sure" I laughed. I’d been planning on buying stuff for them and just saying it was from the both of us.

He hummed slightly.

"You don't have to get them anything"

"I want to"

I kissed him again mainly for just being cute enough to buy my family stuff even though he’s convinced they hate him. He kissed back and I smiled. Right, what to get everyone?

The End
