We wake up some time in the afternoon to a missed call. A missed call from the estate agent saying there's an offer on the house. Hadley heaves a yawn, y'know those ones you do when you've just woken up? And me? Well, knowing that I'm gonna be able to get the fuck out of the UK soon has put me in a very good mood.
"Calm down, there," he chuckles and I smile a little sheepishly. He sighs, laughing a little.
"Can you blame me for being happy?" I laugh slightly, "it means we can get back to Hollywood."
"Yay, Hollywood," he says in a kinda sarcastic tone. I lean in and peck him on the lips.
"It's better than England."
"Everyone in Hollywood wants to be someone. It gets kind of annoying for the people that are happy to be no one."
"Well with the money from the house, we can go anywhere you want, gorgeous," I smile, shifting as he wraps his arms around me.
"I wanna move away but I've got too much there."
"Well it doesn't have to be far from Hollywood if you don't want. Just away from the wannabes. It's up to you," I mutter, kissing his cheek. He smiles and I return his hug. He hums, kissing my neck and I tilt my head. I feel his teeth brush my skin and whine a little as he pretends to give me a hickey. He giggles at that and I'd scowl if I wasn't in such a good mood. "Where's near Hollywood that isn't full of wannabes?" He thinks for a moment before replying with:
"No idea." I chuckle slightly. He lifts his shoulders in a slight shrug, "I've never really been outside Hollywood."
"Mmm, me neither. We can have a look when we get back, though." He hums and I hug him a little closer, wondering if we can get away with staying like this for a while longer. I don't really want to move right now. He kisses me and I smile, kissing back. He smiles too, looking kinda thoughtful. I'm sure a curious look sneaks onto my face and after a moment, Hadley sort of notices it. I lift a hand and play with his hair. "What's on your mind?"
"Nothing, really. I was just thinking about going to college."
"College?" I repeat, a little bit shocked. I don't know why I'm shocked, to be honest. I mean what did I expect him to do? Sit around doing nothing? Get a shitty job in the hopes that something better might eventually come to you somehow like I did?
"Yeah. I never really thought about it in high school and, I dunno, I guess it'd be nice if one of the Smiths did something with their life."
"Mmm, well it's up to you," I mutter, "I'll just sit here and pretend to know how the education system works in America."
He laughs, "I guess it'd be university to you." I hum, kind of understanding.
"So what would you study?" I wonder aloud.
"No idea. I know most of the colleges in Hollywood are all related to acting and music. Hollywood stuff. I wouldn't wanna go too far away, though..."
"Mmm. Isn't it already like a term into the year, though? You'd have a lot of catching up to do if you joined now." Well done Max, go and make it sound like you doubt his ability to catch up.
He yawns before replying, "One semester isn't too bad." I nod to myself.
"We'll have a look at it when we get back," I smile. Is it bad that the only reason I wouldn't want him to go is because he might meet someone better for him that's his age?
Talk about insecure.
