Eugh, why did I snap like that? I didn’t mean to, crap now, where am I? It takes a moment when I look up to realise I’m in the tattoo waiting room with about three people looking at me, the receptionist person and a customer and... Ben. Damn it, the last thing I needed was for him to lord it over me that he was right. Seriously, try anything and I will make you implode inside out. Some part of me wanted him to do something. “Don’t tell me, he dumped you before you could dump him?” What? Oh right yeah, we were meant to be going out. “No, we were never going out; so there was nothing to ‘dump.’”
“Close enough though.” Damn it, don’t you get it?
"Yeah right, he didn't feel anything for me."
"I'm sorry," He crouched in front of me and I realised he had really deep green eyes. Wait Gemme, shut up.
"Yeah. I'm sure you are."
"No, I really am." I could hear the sincerity in his voice and I smiled slightly, it was only weak. I was still slightly upset; I wasn’t in the mood to smile.
"Okay, then. Thank you."
"Anything I can do to help?"
"Dunno. Buy you a drink at the bar around the corner or a coffee or something?" Yeah, fetch me some drugs or shoot me or something. Wait, can’t die. Alcohol? Bad idea; it would rot my insides but I couldn’t actually get drunk.
"I'm good thank you." I sighed, wrapping my arms around his neck, it felt good to hug someone who didn’t freeze up but Luca had begun to do the same, he had even begun to hug me spontaneously. Ben hugged me back and I realised I couldn’t stop thinking about Luca. Damn it. "Thank you."
"No worries. I'm not as much of a dick as I first come across. I really need to work on that first impression," he laughed softly.
"First impressions are usually wrong." I smiled back, "so umm... do you have any tattoos yourself?" I just wanted to change the subject, could you blame me? Although the fact that many things linked Luca and Ben didn’t help.
"Sure. It'd be a bit odd to work in a place like this and not have ended up with a few."
"What ya got?” I asked as innocently as I could instead of saying, “strip, I’ll find out myself.” Heh.
“Full sleeves and a dragon on my back,” Wow, now I was really curious.
“Cool.” I didn’t know what else to say, the conversation was beginning to get awkward.
"Wanna see the sleeves?"
"Sure." I wanted to see the dragon too; I was always interested in mythical creatures. I just didn’t want to be rude.
He left arm has piano keys wrapped around the upper arm and stars from the elbow down, right arm is a Japanese sleeve. "Still got a bit of colouring to do on the Japanese one, though,"
"It’s nice, very pretty." I smiled; He took a seat next to me and gave me his thanks, “so you got any tattoos?”
"A phoenix, on my back that slightly moves onto my left side."
"A full back piece?"
"Mhmm." Well it didn’t colour in my whole back but it did cover my whole back.
"I'd show you just... not here."
"Where would you show me, then?"
I pointed at the studio. "I was actually thinking of getting a new one but I haven't drawn up any ideas yet."
He pushed open the door, ushering me in before closing it behind me. "Hmm, maybe we could come up with one together? I always draw up ideas with the client, to make sure they get what they're after," he smiled.
"Mmm, I designed my back tattoo and Luca's wolf."
"Cool, so you're the arty type too huh?"
"I suppose you could say that." I smiled, taking my top over my head, turning so he could see the tattoo.
"Sweet. I love the tat, by the way."
I raised my eyebrow and looked at him. "I didn't invite you in here to gawk at me." I laughed.
"You're too sexy to not gawk at. But I'll stop, sorry," he grinned.
"Hmm, thank you. Perhaps I could see your dragon?" I asked sweetly. I think I had hung around Luca too much; I had become quite the temptress.
He laughed, "Sure, why not." He took his shirt off, he wasn’t as muscled as Luca but it was still something hot to look at.
I ran a finger softly over his back, tracing the lines of the dragon, my other hand placed on his side. "It's very nice."
"Thanks. Year of the dragon, it made sense to get it, y'know?"
"Oh yes, the tattoo's nice too," seriously, Gemme stop being so sluttish.
"Thanks. What inspired your phoenix tattoo?" He turned back to face me and I placed my hands across my chest.
"The ability to change, rise from the ashes y'know? Overcome anything."
"Mmm. What are you thinking you'll have to overcome then?"
"Everything, life is difficult. I suppose it's easier to overcome when you have someone there to catch you if you fall but I mean..." I shook my head. "Sorry, I'm rambling."
"Ramble all you like. I've got... an hour till my next appointment," he laughed.
"I don't know if I could ramble for an hour."
"You don't have to. We could sit and design a tattoo instead if you want."
"I don't even know what I want, or where to get it."
"You can have a flick through my portfolio and see if anything inspires you?"
"Thank you but. I dunno." I put my top back on and sat down in the tattoo chair. "I'm just so damn confused. Sorry, I shouldn't be bothering you with this."
"I don't know why but everything Luca has ever done I have overlooked, I have never cared. Even now, I believed he could change and some stupid part of me thinks he still can. I don't know what it is." I sighed. "Don't get me wrong though, you are hot and I like you; I just want a distraction right now though."
"I'm good at being a distraction. Listen, I'll do my next appointment and then we can go back to mine, and I will distract you all you like, yeah?"
“What are you getting at?” I raised my eyebrow again.
He shrugged, "We don't have to go back to mine, just depends on the kind of distraction you're after."
"A distracting one." I shrugged laughing. "Mind if I stay here while you do your appointment?"
I held my arms open wide, "one more time." He wrapped his arms around me and I rested my head on his shoulder. "Thank you, so much." I grinned, hugging him a little tighter, biting back the tears; maybe I was right. Maybe I did just need someone to distract me for a while.
“Any time.” He smiled.
