Tears began flowing down my cheeks for no reason and Ike looked at me questioningly, I shrugged his guess was as good as mine. We were in a car, whose car I’m not sure Ike managed to ‘obtain it’. I had Luca’s bag but something felt wrong, I felt really upset, and scared. If it truly was Luca, him being scared just made me scared too. He was never scared. We were nearing the main interstate and the turn off wasn’t far away. I couldn’t place where in the building he was, but we could find that out later when we got closer. Right now I wanted to know why I was crying. “Luca...Luca what’s wrong?” I mumbled, wiping away the tears as best as I could; stupid connection. Although I did feel upset knowing that Luca was in danger. I wasn’t going to leave him, but something in my head told me it was a trap, that they knew I was coming. To be honest I didn’t care I just wanted him back.
He didn’t reply but the thoughts I picked up were slurred and I really did began to get scared. I told Ike to drive faster and in no time at all we were at the old run-down motel. “Ike, stay here. He’s in the basement, I’m going in alone.” Before he could protest I hugged him close, kissing his cheek softly. “Don’t worry hmm?” I smiled as I kicked down the motel door.
I jumped as I turned the corner to the desk and a black cat jumped at me. He had sparkling blue eyes and purred softly, “hey kit.” I smiled stroking his fur, its bones could be seen beneath his fur and I wondered how long he had been there. “Stay here, I’ll be back in a sec.” I grinned and he shook his head softly. “You wanna come with?” I don’t know how I knew what he wanted but I just seemed to know by the feelings I got off him. “Okay, but keep it quiet okay?” I smiled, scratching behind his ears. He nodded and dropped into a crouch as if signalling his quietness. This is stupid, I’m talking to a cat.
I went behind the desk and picked up the key to the basement, which took me a while with all the room keys with it. Luckily they were all labelled. I turned, “hey kit, you know the way?” He nodded and suddenly I was following a cat around the building. “So, what’s your name?” I asked, he stopped and turned a name flickering to me in my head, “Cosmos? Nice name I’m Gemme.” The cat purred again and walked off. How was I going to explain this to Ike, let alone Luca...? Luca,” I’m coming. As we came to the basement I heard murmurs and I crouched down to Cosmos’ height.
“I need to pick you up, don’t squirm okay?” He nodded and I picked him up, cradling him as I created an illusion around us. I knew his telepathic powers didn’t work so I would need to be quick in case my powers began to falter. I unlocked the door quickly, slipping in undetected; it seemed my powers worked for now. I placed a finger to my lips to signal Cosmos to hush as I placed him down again. He nodded once more and began to follow me as I myself followed Luca’s brain signals, damn it Luca I’ll be there soon. I hope.
