I sigh, when we get to the house I kill the engine and open the back door, using Luca’s power to lift them both up, carrying them into the house and upstairs. I rested Luca on our old bed before lifting Alice up and resting her in her own bed. I pulled the cover over her and kissed her forehead as I whispered a soft, “I love you.” I did the same with Luca, before heading downstairs and slowly falling to sleep myself. Only then did I realise how tired I was.
When I woke Luca was sat on the sofa opposite, a cup of coffee in his hand. I rubbed my eyes wearily, saying nothing. I was kinda glad he stayed however, instead of just leaving straight away. I swung my legs round and faced him, my voice a little rough from sleeping for so long. “Did you sleep well?” I asked while one hand rubbed my neck, that was the worst night’s sleep, ever.
"Yeah, thanks, you?"
I shook my head, “I’ve had better.” I moaned, trying somehow to rub out the ache. Then it just, tingled away. I looked at Luca and thanked him.
“S’ok.” He murmured and I sighed, I had nothing else to say really. So we sat there, in a long, awkward silence.
He put the coffee down and pulled his knees up to his chest, lighting a cigarette. "Sorry," he muttered, "I don't mean to be awkward... it's just weird being back here, that's all," he smiled slightly.
"It's okay, I understand. I guess I'm stuck, I don't know what to do."
"What because I'm here...?" he looked up questioningly, "I didn't mean to screw up your day. I'll go if you want." Oh, No... Luca, I didn’t mean anything...
"No, I had nothing planned. I just don't know what to do now. I mean, I don't want to move too fast, y'know?” I sighed, God, I sound like a girl with their first boyfriend.
"Yeah, I know. If I'm honest, I don't know what to do either. This was kinda unplanned and I'm confused. You know how easy it is to confuse me." I guess I do know, I also know how easy it is to lose you.
"I'm sorry." I murmured, getting up I moved over to him cautiously and kissed his cheek softly. Smiling uncertainly, he put his arms around me, tugging me down onto the sofa next to him.
"Do you have a gig today or something?" I murmured.
"No, nothing planned for today."
"So I have you for a whole day?" I smiled.
"I guess, yeah, if you want me that long. Unless I get a craving," he frowned slightly, "they've been real bad recently."
"Not again." I shuddered slightly, remembering the last time. He sighed, putting his arms back around his legs and his chin on his knees. "I'm here for you, you know that right?" I whispered, wrapping my arms around him.
"Yeah," he muttered, leaning into the hug slightly. I kissed his forehead and hugged him a little tighter with a slight sigh.
"Ugh, sorry, I'm being stupid. I'll be fine," he mumbled
"You said that last time." I sighed letting him go.
"Did I?" he asked, glancing at me.
"Yeah," I shook my head and got up, walking into the kitchen just as Alice ran downstairs, how can she be so lively in a morning?
"Hey, Alice," Luca said, his voice instantly full of cheer, put on just for her. I was glad I had turned to the kitchen side.
"Goood Morning!" She grinned, practically skipping into the kitchen.
I smiled and handed her a bowl of cereal. "Luca, would you like anything?"
"No, I'm okay, thanks.” I kissed Alice’s forehead as she ate slowly, careful not to spill anything. I walked over to Luca, sitting on the couch beside him for a second, long enough for me to kiss him softly before I got up again.
“I have to send Alice to school today and then we could go out or something.” I smiled.
"Oh, yeah, sure," he nodded, "I forget kids are supposed to be in school at that age. I wasn't sent to school till I was nine," he laughed slightly.
"Well, it'll be her last day." I smiled, "Alice, what do you think about travelling America with me, Luca and his band?" I called and all that could be heard was her high squeal, "Really? Yay!" She grinned as she ran out of the kitchen, pouncing at me. "Don't thank me, thank Luca." I grinned as well as she transferred her embrace to Luca. He laughed, hugging her back.
"I love you Uncle Luca." She whispered.
He glanced up at me, surprised, but smiling. "Love you too, beautiful," he muttered.
I placed a hand on Alice's shoulder. "Come on, Sweet, you have to go get ready for school." Luca kissed her on the cheek and gently dislodged her. She looked up at me and nodded before running back upstairs. “She’s taken to you really quickly.” I half-laughed.
