I sat there, shocked. Had Daniel really just hit Lionel?
I heard Eva make a tsk sound behind me.
"I thought you said that they were friends." Eva said. "Is this how friends treat each other in America? I must say, we treat friends much differently in Germany."
I don't know why, but that comment made me cry.
Which made both Eva and Lionel rush over.
I shrugged them off, then realized that I couldn't get anywhere by myself. So I asked Eva push me to my room.
Lionel looked concerned, but he let me go.
Once in my room, I politely asked Eva to leave. She put up a big fuss, but left when I told her I just needs some alone time.
I let my tears fall. I knew what I needed to do, and it broke my heart to do so.
But not as much as it should have.
Shaking, I picked up my phone and dialed Daniel's number. He didn't answer, so I left a message.
"Hey Daniel. I'm really sorry to say this, but… after that stunt that you just pulled, I can't… I'm sorry Daniel, but we're over."
I hung up before he could hear me cry again.
And although tears fell, I felt slightly relieved.
