Rosie -

My heart slowly recovered as I sent a silent prayer of thanks to God, I clutched Matt as tight as I could, his strong body kept me from bursting into tears. I had to be strong,

“Are you okay?” came a voice; Matt stood me up and nodded,

“We better go,” he said, the policemen made a circle around us as we were escorted out the building, more police joined us outside and we were put into police cars.

“Where are we going?” I asked,

“Straight to Anavex,” he replied. Matt sat close to me in the car and I rested my face on his shoulder,

“I’m in love with you Matt,” I told him, he didn’t reply but as I pulled away I saw a silent tear trickle down his face, I kissed his cheek and smiled slightly,

“I never want to lose you,” he said his voice gruff. We soon turned into Anavex’s complex and stopped at the gates,

“Wait,” Matt called, “I can’t have another situation like that happen again,” he said, the policeman slowed the car, “Rosie I don’t want to leave you, but I want to shut this thing down and I’m not putting you in danger again,”

“What are you saying?” I asked,

“This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but Rosie you can’t come with me. This policeman will take you to the station and keep you safe, I’m going to go in and stop them,” I shook my head,

“I don’t want to leave you,”

“I don’t want to leave you either, but I have to help, I can’t put you in danger.”

“What about your own life?” I challenged,

“You are my life,” he said sincerely, “If I lose you, I may as well be dead,”

“Please Matt,” I begged, he sighed,

“No,” he said painfully, “I love you too much.” I loved Matt too much to disobey him, “Please just do as I say,” he said, I let a tear slide down my cheek.

“You said you were never going to leave me,” I cried, Matt’s face winced, he pressed his hand against his eyes,

“I know, I’m breaking the promise, because I’m too selfish Rosie! I love you way too much to even think about you in danger; my heart will stop if you even get a scratch.”

“What about you?” I asked, “What about my feelings? I don’t want you in danger, why are you less important?”

“Because I’m nothing without you,”

“Let me come!” I growled through tears, Matt’s face screwed up,

“No!” He said strongly, he opened the car door, “Take her to safety,” Matt instructed,

“Kiss me Matt!” I cried before he closed the door, he leaned in and kissed my lips gently, I grabbed his face and pressed my lips against him. He seemed tense as I kissed him; I gave up and withdrew,

“Just to let you know, I’m not happy,” I said,

“Neither am I, thank you for doing this…” he sighed, “I love you,” he closed the door; I sat back in the seat for a moment. My plan – to suddenly get out the car as soon as Matt was far away enough, I darted back to the door and tried to open it,

“Thought you’d try that!” said the policeman, “I’m used to dealing with criminals,” I narrowed my eyes at him,

“Just to let you know, I’m as unhappy as you, I’m missing out on the most exciting thing in my career, to babysit you.” He told me,

“You are not as unhappy as me,” I said slowly, “Is your reason for existence risking his life in there? Are you going to be sick with worry for the nest few hours? Is…”

“I get it,” he snapped. I sat back and allowed the miles to part us; I could understand where Matt was coming from, but he couldn’t empathise with me, I was in the same position as him. Annoyingly enough I loved him too much to disappoint him in anyway, I guess that was a weakness of mine.

The End
