As the arrow hit me pain lanced through my body, spreading everywhere. I fell to the ground, and screamed, I felt like I had been thrown into a fire pit. On the way up the mountain I blacked out twice. By the time we made it to the top of the mountain the...things...were almost on top of us. Luke appeared in front of Zoey and I, and immediately transported us to a cave that was so far away that I couldn't see or hear the others. Not that that was saying much considering I really wasn't feeling well at all.
There was a crack as Luke teleported back to the mountain, and another one as he teleported back with Lucy. She stood there for a second before running over to me. "Will!" she called anxiously.
I looked at her through a haze of pain which I struggled to keep from my face. I smiled weakly and reached for her with my good arm as she leaned over me. I pulled her into a one-armed hug. "I love you," I whispered.
"You're going to be fine! Right?" she asked, on the verge of tears.
I lifted my head and kissed her, "I hope so."
Lucy shot me an almost angry look "Dont say hope! You will be fine! Your not getting away from me that easily!" she said as tears began to stream down her face.
Crap, she must have seen the pain anyways...because to all appearances I had just been scratched. Lucy tore at my shirt collar, opening it enough to expose the wound. She gasped and started to cry harder, I winced and pulled her in for another hug. As I did I caught a glance of the wound; it was already leaking puss and a blackness was spreading across my shoulder. I kissed the side of Lucy's head then rested my chin against it as she started to cry in earnest.
Eventually Ben came up with a strange plant which he had looked up on wikipedia and sent Luke out to get. He gently took Lucy off of me "I'm sorry but this has to be done as quickly as possible Lucinda," he told her as he did so. Lucy let go off me, she was going into a kind of shock and so didn't really react that much at all. Ben crushed the of the strange herb then pressed them against my wound. It stung like crazy, and I clenched my teeth even harder, I felt like my jaw was about to break and my shoulder was about to fall off. Ben ripped off a sleeve of his shirt and wrapped it around my shoulder to keep the leaves in place. Then he helped me sit up.
"Thanks Ben," I whispered he nodded then got up to leave me in peace. Lucy was immediately back, curling up against my chest with my good arm around her once again. I suddenly realized that I was really tired, that was probably because my body was fighting the poison...it didn't take long for me to drift off on Lucy's shoulder.
