Regardless of artist, genre, band or singer, everyone loves music. Heavy Metal helped me to discover who I really was, Alternative got me through bad days, and once again, my beloved Heavy Metal kept the good days good.
Alternative: I suppose the reason I found Alternative a brilliant genre was because if I listened to it while I was upset about something it felt like somebody else was sad as well. Nine Inch Nails are one of my favourite bands.
Heavy Metal: I love headbanging to Metallica, AC/DC, KISS and all those sort of bands. Marilyn Manson will always remain my favourite band/singer and so many other bands that I love. Heavy Metal thought me that it was okay to be myself, to be different.
Grunge: Nirvana is the only grunge band that I listen to, but I love everything about them. They are the band I listen to on Friday evenings (along with the song 'Paradise City' by Guns 'n' Roses). Their music makes a good day seem even better.
Also in heavy metal, Slipknot's song 'Til We Die' is good to listen to on a bad day, even though it is quite sad in places. I like to listen to it while looking out at a grey sky past rain running down the windows (good old Irish summers).
I love music videos as well. Freak On A Leash by Korn is interesting because parts of it feature a single bullet going through various scenes, and parts of it are animated. The music video to The Dope Show by Marilyn Manson is interesting because it's very controversial with a horror/sci-fi feel to it. Not for the faint hearted.
Those are my reasons to love music and music videos, two of the things that inspire me to write.
