A Storm ApproachingMature

"Careful, careful."

"I know what I'm doing."

"Ah, like you did last time and the times before that."

I rolled my eyes and enjoyed a bit of satisfaction from Colin's exasperation. I move the ball of water over the field. Then I gave it a twirl and it instantly watered the whole field. All the serfs gave a cheer. I grinned. I knew that trick would work.

Eventually.

"Claire!"

I turned in confusion. "Father, what are you doing here?"

He crossed his arms. "I was going to ask you the same question. Haven't I told you not to..." It was then that he noticed.

"What...What did you do to your hair?"

I shook it. "Like it? I used clothes dye."

He stood dumbstruck for a few seconds, then grabbed my arm.

"What are you doing?"

"We are going to wash that dye out of your hair and turn you back into a respectacle girl."

"And if it doesn't come out?"

"Then we will use bleach it, since you are so interested in using clothing chemicals on your hair."

I was about to argue when he stopped in his track and looked toward the city in the distance. It was then I noticed the cloud of dust closing in on it. Wordlessly, we ran into the house and gather our weapons and potions. I looked out to window and noticed that the serfs were evacuating.

"Father, I don't think we can there in time."

"I know. That is why I am using the portal." He poured a potion on the ground and a large, swirling mist appeared.

"But I hate the..." The remainder of my sentence was lost in suffocating darkness.

The End
