"You are taking a train ride, and you hear someone close to you say one sentence. It can be anything like "I never thought I'd live to see this," or "I hate chocolate." Anything! Based on what they had said, write a story on who these people are and what happened before they said that particular sentence."

I remember doing this writing exercise once in L.A class [Language Arts]. We'd all wanted to play some fun game so our teacher said we could; except it has to involve writing. So she came up with this! And it was fun.

- you write a story about that quote and about what happened to the person before they said it
