JimmyBenedict - Running in the Rain

Mom would tell us to run at “rain speed” when we got home on rainy days.  At rain speed, we could dodge most of the raindrops and reach the door just about as dry as we’d been in the car.  Rain speed was for short distances like that, a spark of extra effort that grazed the idea of what it would be like to have a superhuman power.  Today I move at a pace you’d call sun speed, taking in the full shine of life as it falls, even on the days I come home with wet hair.

The End
