Gardening Spade- Goldiness

It was a cold moonless night. The light from the nearby windows sent shadows jumping out at me.

I walked through the tomato patch of our well tended garden, mercilessly stepping over the plants that had just popped their heads above ground. 

I held a garden spade , its metal handle chillingly cold in my hand. It was a beautiful garden spade, I decided. It would be my trustworthy companion in this endeavour .

I saw him approaching, dispelling the darkness as he walked towards me. He stood in the garden, and I ducked behind a tree. He was so absorbed looking for me, that he didn't see a figure jump out behind him, brandishing a deadly garden spade. One stroke and the deed was done.

I stood there deeply breathing in the darkness. It was a beautiful spade, I decided
