Rainstorm- Littleink

Twelve days ago, Jamie was under the rain.

The "rainstorm" lasted days. Shells and fragments of the enemy line rained down on their encampment in unwavering barbarity. At first Jamie's comrades fell like flies, unable to bring their deflectors out in time. Eventually, however, men like Jamie were able to call up the transparent shields to protect their heads while they fired their own rounds of missiles. Those too weak or careless to cover their entire bodies in dirt and deflector shields were quickly eliminated. 

Jamie shuddered. The memory was galling. Had he not been so bold, he would not have had to go through the agony of losing his leg. It was his hero's price...
