alone with her back pressed to the lawn chair that smelled like dirt she stilled and no one ever knew she sneaked out like this to the backyard to escape to sit to be still to feel each and every breath free from her lungs and dissipate invisible into the air every second in the cold night air seemed like a lifetime she only dreamed to ever have and under the stars those dots of light that seemed close enough to touch she expanded and the world seemed so small she could take any star she pleased and hold it in her hand a star no war or childhood trauma could ever demand
