"Buy the farm," announced Lizzie, as she set her tray of healthy salad and plain yoghurt on to the cafeteria table.
Jack blinked up at her, fingers slipping from his burger. "Sorry?"
"Buy the farm," she repeated, as if he were the crazy one. Then, catching his baffled appearance, she sighed. "Death idiom, Jack. Remember?"
Oh. Yes, he remembered - Lizzie had been going through an 'death idiom' phase lately. Apparently, Lizzie didn't think he remembered, though. "Boys are so daft sometimes," she muttered, stabbing at her salad.
"Is that really the best way to start off a lunch conversation, though?" Jack asked, wryly.
