She found it impossibly hard to let go.
To unclench her fingers, and release the pale string in her hands, setting the balloon free.

But slowly, she pried her own hand open with sheer will power, and the scarlet balloon wavered in the sea breeze, floating out to the ocean, never known but never forgotten, either.

It had a forever to go, and she wished it good luck.
