1: You don't have to be clever. You have to be right.

2: Reality sucks. Remind people.

3: You don't need a brilliant title for each chapter. Sometimes, '1' is better than all of them.

4: Write until it hurts.

5: Don't try to publish until you have something so good, you have to publish it.

6: You're proud. Deal with it.

7: If killing off a character feels like killing yourself, then you're doing it right.

8: Don't ask for sympathy, or you won't get any. If you want anything from your reader, you have to wrench it out.

9: Everyone talks differently. Giving them each one mannerism isn't a substitute for that.

10: If you say something enough, it's just as bad as a cliche. Don't repeat yourself.
