Writing - The Ten Commandments

1. Thou shalt turn off thy inner editor until the first draft is completed.

2. Thou shalt avoid cliches like the plague, as I have not managed to in this commandment.

3. Thou shalt make a plan and stick to it.

4. Thou shalt know the ending before thou gets there.

5. Thou shalt not tell the reader the story before it occurs.

6. Thou shalt be adventurous.

7. Thou shalt be merciless when editing.

8. Thou shalt not let parents/friends read work when it is unfinished.

9. Thou shalt practice, practice, practice.

10. Thou shalt write, above all, for pleasure.
