Noah: Dinner with BartMature

Guinevere might have said she was all right, but she certainly didn't look it. Her skin had paled dramatically, and she was shaking slightly.

Professor Longbottom made his way over frowning.

"Now, really!" He huffed. Then he took one look at Guinevere on the floor, and stopped for a second. He looked around the class awkwardly, hoping for someone to step in.

"I think she needs to see Madam Pomfrey, sir." I said, rolling my eyes. Like it wasn't obvious.

"Yes!" He said, brightly. Anything to get his lesson back on track. "Madam Pomfrey. Will you please escort her, Thompson?"

"I'm fine." Guinevere said, quietly. She stood up, but stumbled. I caught her arm, and stood her straight. She recoiled away at my touch, as if I had stung her. "I don't need to go anywhere."

"Guinevere, you're as pale as the school ghosts. Noah will take you." The professor said.

"I'll take her."

Lazurus made his way over, and Guinevere smiled at him. I shrugged, backing away. With her cousin beside her, they left the greenhouse and headed towards the castle.

"Pfft. Faker." Lola muttered loudly. A few Ravenclaws laughed along with her.

"Noah, I think I'm going to faint." Ronan said, as I went to stand back next to him. "Will you catch me too?"

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever. She looked seriously ill, Ronan, you shouldn't make fun of her."

"Lazurus didn't seem happy when Longbottom asked you to go with her, did he?" Rudolf said, grinning. "Like a snivelling dog he was, jumping to her side as fast as he could."

I shrugged. He was her cousin, he was bound to be worried. I was actually beginning to be irritated by the twin's constant taunts.

The rest of Herbology flew by, and before I knew it, it was dinner time. I left the twins, and hurried up to the castle to find Bart. He was already in the main hall, helping himself to a generous portion of shepherds pie. He smiled as he saw me.

"Noah, guess what?" He said. He was grinning from ear to ear. I sat down opposite him.

"Hey, what?" I asked. No doubt, he'd caught sight of a what-zit what-not, or heard a thingymajig sing in the charms room.

"I've just got a letter from my parents. My mums pregnant! She's going to be having twins! Can you believe it?"

My eyes widened in surprise. "No way, congratulations! That's amazing!"

He nodded happily.

"Someone blew up a frog in charms as well." He said, matter of factly. I burst out laughing.

"A frog?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.

"Yeah. A Hufflepuff called Charlie, tried to make it bigger and it blew up. So the rest of charms got cancelled while they cleaned it up. I think a wrackspurt must have gone in her ear and distracted her as she spoke the spell."

"Yeah." I said, shaking my head. "That's the most obvious explanation."

"Oh look!" He said, pointing to the Hufflepuff table. "There she is, see the one with blonde hair? She had pink hair though on the train. Remember, she came in our cart?"

I did recognise her, though she looked different now that her hair was a normal colour. She caught us looking and I turned quickly.

"I think she saw us." Bart said, stating the obvious. I blushed. I didn't want to seem rude.

"Is she looking over at us?" I asked Bart, wishing he would turn away. He nodded.

"She doesn't look very happy. She's staring over at us for some reason." he said.

I rolled my eyes. "Maybe because you're still staring?" I suggested.

He snapped his eyes away from her. "Oh. Oops. I think she's coming over."

I turned just in time to see her stomping over towards us. She didn't look happy. Great!

"Excuse me," she said, stopping just in front of me. "Is there a problem?" She placed her hands on her hips, and I almost laughed.

"No problem." I said, smiling innocently. "Just noticing the change in hair colour. Truthfully, I thought the pink looked kind of cool, but I guess the blonde suits you too."

She opened her mouth to say something, but then stopped. I think I had caught her off guard, because she slowly began to look uncomfortable.

"I hope we didn't offend you." I said, smiling up at her happily. She shook her head.

"No, no you didn't. I just ... " She looked up to see Bart.

"Oh hey, you're in my charms class right? Your names Bart isn't it?" She said, pointing at him. He nodded, but he didn't speak. Bart wasn't really the type for confrontation, and I think he still expected her to blow.

"So you would have seen me kind of blow up that frog." She said, wincing. I laughed and she blushed.

"Sounds like a fun lesson." I said, grinning.

"It was." Bart said, quietly.  "And we got the last half free, which was good."

She smiled at him, "Looks like I did something right then."

She looked back to her table, "I'm going to go. See you next charms lesson, Bart. See you ...?"

"Noah." I said, grinning.

She smiled then turned round to hurry back over to her table. She looked slightly embarrassed as she sat down.

I turned back to Bart, and laughed as I saw him still watching her. He blushed as he realised I had caught him and began to concentrate on his food.

"So Bart. Twins!" I said, changing the subject like the good friend I am.

The End
