"TechKnow Customer Support, this is Ni-"
"I don't care who it is! I have a problem and I need it fixed now!" Nien almost dropped the phone. The deep gruff voice on the other end of the phone was one she thought she had left behind.
It was Joe.
Nien altered her voice a little so Joe wouldn't have a good chance of guessing it was her. "U-uh How can I help sir?"
"One of the kids in my orphanage just escaped a few days ago. The security system that YOU people installed failed to give us adequate warning!" What am I going to do? Nien wondered. She still felt bad for the kids at the orphanage and couldn't be the one responsible for lowering their own chances at escape... she thought fast and was hit with an idea.
"We apologize sir. You aren't the first to call with concerns of that nature. Our system was experiencing some difficulty and people across the board suffered the same scenario. Be assured everything is back up and you shouldn't have that problem again. Anything els-"
"IT BETTER NOT HAPPEN AGAIN!" Joe yelled. "OR I'M GOING TO COME UP THERE AND FU-"
"Alright thank you sir, Have a great day." Nien said quickly and hung up the phone. She sighed and fell back into her chair. She looked over at Aaron's desk, and thankfully it was empty. He would have been curious over the "System failure" story.
The rest of the day passed without incident.
Well without any bad incidents. Nien was heading out the door when the heavens opened and Aaron came up behind her. "Hey Nien... I was wondering if you were busy tomorrow evening?"
Nien drew up short. Aaron wasn't seriously asking her on date was he? She shook her head to clear her thoughts, but Aaron took it as a different signal.
"You aren't? Great! I was wondering if you wanted to go see a movie with me or something. I'll pay of course."
Nien couldn't refuse. She knew that she couldn't, but she was still surprised when she heard herself say "Sure that sounds nice."
Aaron smiled "Awesome! We can go right after work. See you tomorrow Nien!" And with that he ran off.
As she walked home, Nien was trying to decide whether this was a good thing, or a bad thing. She was nervous, and excited, and kept wondering what the others would say. Kyle and Liam would probably tease her, and Luce would probably be jealous. When she finally made it home she was met with questioning glances from her friends.
"Nien what's up?" "Why are you blushing?" "Are you ok?" Nien held up a hand, took a deep breath, and said, "Guys tomorrow I won't be home until a little later." "Why?" chorused the three of them. Nien took another deep breath and replied,
"Because I have a date."
