Cobalt Blue - The Proper Time

I had fallen asleep easily enough and was having a fitful dream about puppies and something about a samari warrior and an elvin maiden.  Don't ask me what it was all about or where on earth the idea came from but that's what I dreamed.  Sometimes I have strange dreams like that.  They're like little stories that pop-up randomly out of my own imagination.  It must come from having little brothers and sisters, you learn how to use your imagination.  Especially when they're begging you to tell them a bedtime story.

Anyway, I was having this dream, when the strangest sensation came over me.  It's hard to discribe but I felt as if somehow someone had invaded my dream.  I know it's not possible but that's sure what it felt like.  I felt a hand shaking me and my eyes snapped open to see Azurite standing above me looking down on me with wide eyes.

"What do you think you're doing?"  I hissed at him angrily as I pushed myself into a sitting position.

"Waking you up," he replied,  I was getting ready to yell at him, tell him he shouldn't be sneaking around in the middle of the night, and scaring people when we're in such a strange place but before I could he cut me off, "Look, we do not have much time. The man that came in the house today - he is called Tim Watson." I looked at him like as if he had just sprouted four heads, how did he know this? "He's not the boss - he is second in command. Not the kind of guy to be messed with. The reaso-

"Wait," I whispered, cutting him off, "How do you know all this?"

He kind of shrugged, "I don't know I just do"

I was starting to get even more angry then I had been when he first woke me up.  I closed my eyes and took a couple of deep breaths.  Why was I so angry again.  Ever since coming here it seemed like it was becoming harder and harder to control my emotions, especially my anger.  Sure we had been taken against our wills and some of the kids here were a little off the walls but I had grown up with hyper-active kids all my life and my patience had never been this short.

I felt a little calmer now as I spoke to Azurite, "what do you mean that you don't know?  That's not exactly information that you kind of just stumble upon."

Az looked down at his feet and I could tell there was something bothering him.  "I really don't know Cobalt, I just knew as soon as he walked into the room, it's like that with me.  I just know stuff.  It's like I can hear voices telling me things."  He shifted uncomfortably,  "This house is unusually quiet, it's kind of freaking me out."

I shake my head, realizing we're getting no where, "Ok what else do you know?"

He seemed happy to change the subject, "Well it seems that they're part of some kind of government agency.  Trying to protect society from people like us.  I'm not really sure what he meant by that.  There's something about us that they don't like.  They seem to think we're dangerous or something."  He paused for a second as if searching for more information then said, "they want us to do something for them but they're waiting for us to figure some things out first."  he paused again as if the information was becomeing harder to come by.  "that's all I got, he left before I could get anymore."

I stood up and brushed past Az, "we got to go wake the others, they need to know all this."  I ran out of the room ignoreing his protests.  I knocked on a couple doors as I ran down the hall, it was past four in the morning but I didn't care this was important.  Sleepy teenagers started slipping out of their rooms, their questions filling the air.  I stopped at Azo's room, pulling a note off the door.

Went to the Bahamas. Be back whenever.

"What's that supposed to mean?"  Carmine said pushing her way to the front, "And what's the meaning of all this, waking us up in the middle of the night?"

I sighed, "Sorry, but this is really important."

The End
