Looking down at the note from the principal, I started to walk toward the kid leaning against the wall. When I was right next to him, I noticed he had a dazed, faraway look in his eyes.

"Uh, excuse me-"

"Hupupup!" He held up his hand in a 'wait a second.......' motion. He got a concentrated look on his face. A paper whipped out of nowhere and he began scribbling notes down all over what I recognized as a musical staff. Enjoyment crossed his face. He seemed unaware of me. This went on for several minutes.

Abruptly, he stopped and had a confused "Now what?" look on his face. Suddenly a very pretty girl walked around the corner. She had waist-length dark brown hair and hazel eyes. I clenched my jaw to keep it from dropping and swallowed. She looked at me, then at the kid next to me. She stooped a little to get a better look at the kid's face. Then she straightened and pulled out a whistle. She blew on it hard. The kid jolted slightly.

"XANDER!" She yelled. The kid, apparently Xander, jumped almost clean out of his skin.

"I know." She said calmly. "I checked. You're supposed to be showing-Joseph is it?- around." She pulled the paper out of his hands.

"Hey!" He tried to grab it back but she held it out of his reach.

"You can have it back tonight when your homework is finished."

Xander sighed then turned to me. "As you probably already know by now, my name is Xander. That's Aderyn, my sister. She's normally not this cruel." He eyed her. She rolled her eyes then started walking away. "Lately Marsha and Annie keep pestering her because they're desperate to talk about their new time machine and I keep locking myself in my room so I can write new songs for the band."

"Um, ok...." I said, puzzled. How can two girls make a time machine?
