As I walked down the stairs I sang the song that I had been composing before Ad had interrupted me. Marsha and Annie were arguing, but my singing brought them back to earth. They turned, smiling, and hid the thing they had been fighting over behind their backs, but not before I got a glimpse of it. "Hi Marsh! Hey Ann! What are you two doing?" I asked.
"Nothing!" they replied in unison. I shook my head, I could read them, easily, having lived next-door to them since as long as I can remember.
"I know you guys have something to show me, and I've seen your new invention. What is it?"
They grinned. "That's not what we were here to tell you," giggled Marsha, "but since you asked..." Annie said, "It's the latest model of our time machine!" they exclaimed together. "What we came to tell you is that..." they continued into a complicated explanation that I'm just going to summarize.
An Asian boy had moved into the STU dorm right next to their room. His name was Joseph and he was the newest student in the SSA. They had already volunteered us (me, Marsha and Annie) to give him a tour of the school.
At five the next morning I was up and ready to tell him all about our private school!
