Memories In The Field

"Hey guys, I thought we could have a picnic in the old field behind Angel Lake" said Oliver as we rode along Avalon Trail. "That would be great Oliver, If we canter we can get there in 5 minutes or so" I said "More like 10 minutes" said Sara "Shut Up" I said.

We cantered to the end of Avalon Trail and turned off onto the small road that by-passed Angel Lake and ended at the ruined gate of the old field, where we first met.

It was early spring, the field was full of blooming wild flowers, the birds were chirping and the wind sang and danced around the trees. My dad and I were having a picnic like we always did when I was younger.

"Would you like a muffin?" asked Dad, I looked at him and shook my head. Dad pulled out his muffin but before he could bite it I snatched it away and stood "On second thought" I took a bite of the chocolate muffin.

Dad smiled and stood. "Give me that back" he said teasingly, I laughed "Come and get me"

I raced throug the field of flowers, laughing as my dad chased me. Suddenly a guy and a girl, my age appeared out of no where and I crashed into them, falling flat n my face s a result.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry" I exclaimed, "It's ok, I should have been watching where I was going" said the boy, offering his hand to help me up, I gratefully took it.

The boy brought meup to see his deep emerald green eyes an his short cropped blonde hair, He was wearing jeans and a black t - shirt but they had dirt smears on them and bits of hay were in his hair and over his clothes. "I'm Oliver Newman" He said with a shy crooked smile.

"Back off sissy, let the girl breathe" said the girl behind Oliver with the curly blonde hair and playful, charming sky blue eyes. Oliver backed off and the girl came forward "Hey I'm Sara Baker, Oli's favourite cousin"

Oliver snorted "Stop boasting" Sara smiled at me "Anyways, don't you live at the stables up at the end of Avalon Trail or something?" she asked "Further back than that, but we do travel down Avalon Trail to get here" I gestured to the field.

"So, whats your name?" asked Oliver "I'm Sophie Craig and this is my Dad" "Hi there" said Dad. "Hi" said Oliver "Would you like to join us for lunch?" asked Dad, gesturing to the picnic. "Sure, we would love too" said Sara.

We spent the rest of that day playing and talking, becoming fast friends and learning about each others lives and our passion for horses.

now where best friends for life.
