Brendon: Fill Them InMature

I sat watching as Brody took the bait. It wasn’t a trap entirely, more a test. A test to see just how attached he was to his little town. Apparently he was attached enough to free my young protégé. Surely he could smell that the boy was a vampire...

“Hey, boss” the boy said, appearing beside me.

“Welcome back, Dustin” I said, my eyes still scanning the screen.

“How’d I do?” he asked, taking a seat in the chair next to me.

“Wonderfully. Anything suspicious about him?”

“He stank of wolf” Dustin said casually.

I felt my jaw clench at the mention of wolves. “Excuse me a moment” I said, not waiting for an answer before I dashed out of the room, heading straight for Brody.

I appeared inside his apartment with no more than a whisper to signal my arrival. He was too busy looking for clothes to notice me.

"You really are stupid, aren't you?" I said, almost growling.

"Am I?" he asked, not bothering to look around.

"All you had to do was stay away from him"

"I did"

“Then why can I smell him on you?"

"He didn't stay away from me"

I pinned him against the wall, glaring. He scowled at me.

"Are you forgetting he is mine?"

"No, unfortunately. Maybe you should have a word with him about that"

"I've been meaning to remind him of the fact"

"Shame his pack disowned him, then. He can't come back into town, and I can promise you, you won't survive long in the town we're staying in"

I chuckled. "I can smell them on you as well, fool"

"And your piont is?"

"As long as you are here, you are away from my property"

"Well done. You're a genius" he said, patting me on the head.

I scowled. "Says the one so easily fooled by a child"

"You say that, but I did figure it out before I let him out. So does that mean you're on their side or not, hmm?"

"It means I switched sides when you would not leave my toy alone"

"Y'know what you sound like? You sound like a spoilt kid who can't share" he said, laughing a little.

"I suppose I do"

"You'd have thought after so long, you'd know better"

"Have you made him your slave yet?" I asked with a tiny smirk.

"And how would I have done that?"

"Will he do whatever you ask of him without question?"

"Can't say I've asked anything of him that would need questioning"

I chuckled and he arched an eyebrow.

"Find someone else, Brody. He's mine"

"Tell that to him, Brendon, not me"

"He knows he belongs to me"

"Then why can he just not stay away from me?"

"I imagine you treat him fairly"

"I imagine I treat him how he should be treated"

“His kind need to be taught their place"

He rolled his eyes.

"They were designed to be our slave, Brody, and they need to remember that"

"Nobody was designed to be anybody's slaves"

"You know so little"

"I know enough to realise that you're living in the past. Slavery should've been totally wiped out years ago"

"Tell that to your little heartthrob"

He laughed. "My little heartthrob? Is that what you think he is now?"

"He seems to be"

"Well he's not, so you can stop bugging me about it now"

"So leave him"

"Doesn't mean I can't be his friend, prick"

"Our kinds do not befriend each other"

"We should try to get on. Fighting's boring and pointless"

"Stay away from Fate and I might like you more"

"Unfortunate thing is, I don't think I'll ever like you, so to be honest, you're only pushing me towards Fate more"

"Fine"

"Poor old man. No one loves you. Go sit in the sun and die already"

"But where would be the fun in that?"

"You wouldn't be invading my personal space all the time, or trying to hurt the people in my town"

"Speaking of which..."

He waited for me to continue.

"By choosing Fate, you have condemned them"

"Oh, good" he scowled.

"Good bye, Brody"

"See ya, asshole"

I left with a glare, heading back to the breeding pits.  Why was it so hard for that ignoramus to understand that Fate was mine and only mine. My plaything, not his. I had left my mark on Fate and trust me when I say it was a mark not easily removed. When I walked back into the surveillance room, I found Dustin spinning around on his chair. Considering he was several hundred years old, he still acted like a child.

“Start filling them in” I said, sitting down to study the CCTV again.

“But Marina said-”

“I do not care what Marina said. Start filling them in”

Dustin opened his mouth to say something but changed his mind when I shot him a glare.

“Yes, boss” he said quietly and slipped out.

Brody would pay for this.

The End
